Wasn't sure which thread to post this in but if anyone has a spare 20 minutes, this video has some interesting insights on the whole money in football and FFP debate.
-
We don't need a CM anymore, we have Joelinton
-
For anyone worried about Trippiers age, Thiago Silva is 38 now and has been class for chelsea.
-
If this signing would have happened last summer I'd have been happy with Trippier (and willock) alone. Now we might have 4 or 5 more on top of this signing.
-
Watched 2 mins and I'm all in. Gets an A+ going by my personal youtube scouting criteria.
-
Is this the same cunt we were linked with? Thank fuck that's not gonna happen.
-
Atletico Madrid play tomorrow so if we haven't heard anything else by then will be interesting to see if Trippier is in the squad. He has started the last 3 games AM have played.
-
You would think so, but you also hear many stories of clubs speaking to the agents of players and sometimes agreeing wages/contract details before actually bidding for that player.
-
Not confirmed that they've agreed a fee but judging by simeones comments it would suggest that they have agreed a fee and it's just up to Trippier if he wants to leave now.
-
Who said it's been rejected?
-
But relegation will destroy what we are able to spend according to FFP.
-
Anybody know much about this guy?
-
Anyone able to write a summary about this guy or copy in here what the article says about him?
-
I'm pretty sure 200m is quoted as the max financial fair play will allow us to spend over the next 3 seasons, going by our current financial sitution. Obviously this can go up if our financial situation improves.

Nathan Ake or Botman Jesse Lingard Boubacar Kamara Jonathan David
-
I wouldn't take Alli tbh. He has a similar problem to Willock(even though dele has more quality), He's not a true number 10 but he's also not a CM.
-
Flashbacks to the last player who was linked to us and AC Milan
-
I really want him to come good but that moment was unforgivable
-
Cringe as fuck when he celebrated winning a throw-in
-
I think his defensive contribution is underrated, he is ranked 20th in the league for tackles and has the most out of any Newcastle player.
-
Class player if he's played in a role that suits him. On the flip side I feel he could easily become a passenger if out of form or loses motivation. He was one of Portugal's best players at the Euros. Also has the potential to be world class in my opinion, I think he is what Howe wants Willock to be.
-
Allowing a superstar in Van Dijk to deservedly make a move to a top 4 club is a bit different than selling one of their most consistent/important players to a direct rival.
-
Good point. It would also make the fact that Howe picked Clarke even more baffling, considering that Clarke is probably the worst CB in the league for hoofing it down the line to nobody/out of play. Playing devil's advocate maybe he wants one ball playing defender (Schar) next to an enforcer (Lascelles).
-
Yeah tbh I wouldn't be mad about Lascelles over Schar, especially against Burnley. I do think that Schar may be one of the first names on Howe's team sheet though, being that he likes to play a more posession based game.
