  1. Agree on everything here except I think Wissa would be a really good signing if we can somehow get him for max £40m.
  2. I doubt Chelsea would let him go for less than 70, but I actually think Jackson would thrive in our system and would suit us a lot more than Sesko.
  3. I'm all in on Jackson now.
  4. Added bonus of giving Brentford more bargaining power to get more money from the Mbuemo sale?
  5. Anyone know how the prize money compares between winning the Europa League and exiting the Champions League in the league phase?
  6. Disagree with that, we got Livramento from Southampton when they were relegated.
  7. It all just depends on how you read into it though. Howe’s interview after Staveley left and Mitchell came in wasn’t really presenting a united front. Your point about Mitchell bemoaning our existing strategy and apportioning blame, he’s just saying that there’s room for improvement (which there definitely is). I do agree that maybe he shouldn’t have distanced himself from the failure of the window but at the end of the day I’d personally prefer more communication than less.
  8. I agree with you in part but also when referencing the ‘Newcastle tax’ it’s about us overpaying compared to what other clubs would have paid. Almost all our signings have turned out to be great value but we still might have overpaid compared to what other clubs would have. Edit to add that this ‘Newcastle tax’ might be a complete myth but I personally don’t see a problem with publicly setting a precedent that we won’t be taken advantage of in the market.
  9. I think Mitchell speaks a lot of sense regarding the “Newcastle tax” and not submitting to it. But as mentioned on here many times throughout the window, Guehi can’t be the only player for £65 million and under that would have improved our defence. I also like that he’s basically shitting on Ashworth and saying the scouting processes he had in place are outdated
  10. Froggy: “Ten Hag is a good manager, it was all Casemiro’s fault. We actually deserved to win that game, we beat them in XG and didn’t look that bad for 10 minutes in the first half”
  11. 9:54, Gordon and Pope carrying their stuff in black bin bags
  12. If the bid was reduced to £7M the original one (that we accepted) can’t have been much more than 10M. Surely some other clubs might be interested around that price? Although wages might continue to prove an issue, anyone know what he’s on with that 3.5 year deal?

Some people saying it’s a Palace leak to encourage other clubs to bid. But what other clubs would be interested in a 50-60 million CB? Maybe Man U or Liverpool?

    Yessssss please let this happen
  16. I just had a look through the comments and apparently he said it on his podcast. Not gonna stoop to actually listening through a Romano podcast though.
  17. Did Romano actually say this?
  18. Would be interesting to compare his PSV stats to Minteh’s Feyenord stats.
  19. Interesting, football insider not the best source but if they were just farming clicks wouldn’t they go with “bid made” or “interest shown”?
  20. Wasn’t the Luiz deal done before July 1st because you were at risk of breaking FFP rules? If those two Juventus players end up being useful for Emery then it’s probably a really good deal but how much do you actually expect them to feature this season? Also as others have mentioned the Diaby sale was probably pretty lucky in the sense that nobody other than the Saudi’s would have paid anywhere near that fee, not some genius business from Monchi. And all these great sales are well and good but what do you think about the re-investment thus far? Have Villa actually improved their first team much at all?
  21. When he was at Burnley he was one of my dream signings during the Bruce era how far we’ve come… I’ve definitely become a bit spoilt and need to remind my self that back then all I wished for was a team that I could just enjoy watching. We have that now with Eddie Howe.
