You have a point. Lascelles did alright today, but I don't see him being a starter in the long run. Obviously you cannot captain a team from the bench.
-
He's one of those players who bring more than just football to the squad. Should be captain IMO
-
Insane footballer! I'm telling you, ASM can walk straight into the starting 11 of many European giants. With better teammates to link with, he'll be absolutely devastating.
-
I'm not a lifelong Newcastle supporter, I only started tuning in to their matches 3 months ago and my god is he the only player that keeps me excited to keep on watching. The drive, skills and positivity he brings to this team full of championship-material players is just priceless. I honestly find it absolutely ludicrous a NUFC fan is complaining about his productivity or attitude.
-
Just fucking release him. It's poisonous having him in the squad, specially with that captain armband.
-
A brainless tree.
-
You cannot keep expecting different results when you keep playing Lascelles.
-
This is true only if you have already assumed that other clubs didn't improve their squads and yours didn't age or decline.
-
This has nothing to do with Howe or Bruce tbf. The squad is clearly at championship level, and not top of the championship either.
-
There's no hope unless you are capable of signing at least 5-7 new quality starters in January which probably won't happen. It's clearly a championship squad.
-
I thought Schaer was partly responsible for the second goal. He wasn't turned on. Players need to keep concentrated off the ball.
-
Embarrassing performance and result tbh. The squad is filled with championship-material players but a good manager would stop being super friendly with the players the way Howe is kind of doing right now. Players need to pay for their stupid mistakes and/or lack of effort. Someone like Lascelles should be benched and stripped of his captaincy as one example. There's no time to care for a shitty player feelings when the team is fighting relegation and the new owners are more than capable of replacing every one of them in the next window. Man management skills aren't as effective when you're in real crisis, real change and discipline are.
-
Oh well, we know where that stupid rumor comes from then. This isn't Bournemouth FC ffs. Those type of players shouldn't even be on the bench at Newcastle.
-
I'm not a fan of involving past players in the club at any capacity other than an honorary position or as an ambassador for marketing purposes. I've seen so many club legends of big clubs hurt their glorious reputations after taking over important managerial roles that they are not qualified for. IMO, the club should just honor them with statues, invite them to matches at St. James Park or let them do some sort of charity work representing the club. That's it.
-
I'm fairly surprised how some aren't pleased with ASM performances. Maybe higher expectations compared to his teammates? But the man is pure magic every time he touches the ball. It's only natural for a dribbler like him to take on his man every time even at his own half. Once Howe set up the team to attack more and defend high up the pitch, ASM will cause havoc to opposition defenses.

I think the ideal scenario is to let Eddie Howe take the major role in the January transfer window and pick the players he wants to help him avoid relegation. Shortly before the end of the season, a new DoF comes and start planning for the summer and beyond.
-
Was a bit shaky at first but he grew in confidence as the match progressed.

There is nothing impossible here, seriously not just a cliche. I've seen plenty of magnificent comebacks across all football leagues throughout the years, and they're not rare. It simply takes a good run of form combined with a disastrous one for rivals and you can suddenly find yourself above them in the table. Also, downplaying the January transfer market as a non-factor is ridiculous. It changed the fortunes of struggling clubs in the past and will definitely change Newcastle's season if the right acquisitions are made. I think giving Howe full control in this coming transfer window would be ideal, then bring a DoF starting from the summer.
-
I feel the team could do with a better centre forward tbh. I understand he was and still is one of the best in this Newcastle, but a natural goal scorer is needed. Of course, after fixing what's more important, the defense and the midfield.
-
The difference in quality between a Fernandez/Shaer partnership and Lascelles/Clark is staggering.
-
I didn't feel he made an obvious error in Norwich's goal. Maybe he could've tried to punch it harder, but he had to intercept that cross, there were two free Norwich players on the far post. The error IMO comes when the players didn't react quick enough and retained their defensive positions for the second cross to Pukki.

Actually, if Juve are convicted in this case (doubt it), every big European club will be convicted of false accounting as well including and not limited to Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG and more. You can easily pull out 100s of deals in the past few years where big clubs manipulated accounting records for their benefits. It's all media frenzy in Italy when it's Juventus. Napoli has also been mentioned in several deals including the Osimhen deal but in the headlines only Juve are highlighted.

I'm not English and tbh I haven't been to Newcastle before, but If I was a player and had to choose between any city in England (apart from London) and Newcastle, I'd choose Newcastle every time for the simple fact it's the closest major city to Scotland
-
It was the case back in the day when they were in a better shape. They lost to a Norwegian club that I cannot pronounce 6-1 a couple weeks ago and he got away with it. Usually, Roma fans would have rioted and boycott the next game after a defeat like that. Specially, that he also lost the Derby della capitale vs. Lazio earlier in the season as well.

Finishing top four is the goal for Roma, always. Winning the scudetto hasn't been Roma's objective for more than a decade now. The appointment of Mourinho by Roma was mostly for PR purposes as he's one of the few managers out there with a fanbase. For Mourinho, he thinks that working in a less demanding environment would be beneficial at this stage of his career.
