  1. When Howe was close to the Celtic job I remember it being the director of football would be his mate, Richard Hughes, or he wasn’t going to take it. I don’t know about Ashworth but he didn’t want Mitchell at all so I don’t think it’s all on the club that a typical structure these days hasn’t been in place. Think he’s earned the right to do things how he wants in some regards but it does mean any pressure will be on him quicker.
  2. He wouldn’t let Alex Murphy go out on loan in the summer because he needed the cover. Think he was the other full back but he’s never going to use him.
  3. Aye. I would never leave Hall out if he was fit but i’m not sure the manager is as keen.
  4. I think he should be. I don’t think he’d play if everyone was fit and he could pick his strongest team though.
  5. When Hall has been out before it’s taken someone else being out to get him back him, he’s never come straight back. He could have played Krafth and Trippier left back rather than Burn and hasn’t done it. Burn has had similar spells at left back when he’s been awful for 3/4 games on the bounce and he stuck with him. If we’re basing it on what has happened in the past there is more to suggest Burn will stay there than Hall coming back in I think.
  6. We don’t know what he’ll do now but I never bought into the thinking he was easing Hall in the first season we had him. He just preferred Burn there and i’m not convinced that has changed.
  7. I agree. But I meant he’ll play Burn left back ahead of Hall rather than leaving out two of Schar, Thiaw and Botman.
  8. I think a lot of people, certainly myself, think he would play Burn even if Hall was fit though.
  9. When I saw the Burnley one go up I thought best keep an eye out next week for this one. Could have easy missed it. Particularly in an international break when not reading as much online.
  10. Thanks. I’d have mised that if hadn’t seen your post. Missed two games already this season.
  11. It will always be the case that season ticket holders and members don’t agree on things but a lot of season ticket holders would have been in the same situation years ago. For the Premier league era in the 90s you couldn’t get in at all if you didn’t have a season ticket. Maybe a few hundred would go on sale if the away team returned some. There wasn’t any chance of getting in unless it was a cup game or someone gave you their ticket. It’s better for people without a season ticket now than it was then and that will have been an issue for probably a majority of the people that currently have them.
  12. He was so bad it was impossible not to. As a poster said above people were laughing as much as groaning.
  13. I remember when he was abysmal at Stamford Bridge, made to switch sides and sat down with an injury after half an hour before being fit 2 days later. He’s always got an excuse.
  14. They could easily say the plan is to move to Leazes Park if it is possible to be fair. They don’t need everything in place before saying that is the preferred option.
  15. I think the four Arsenal games were probably our best performances of the season and we were missing one of the midfield three in all of them. The three of them being able to run like fuck is much of our play and Miley isn’t that. A loan for him would be ideal but we’d need at least two in if Longstaff goes to do that.
  16. The empty seat makes so little difference when he’s not going to be used anyway.
  17. He’s not going to play so having someone on the bench just for the sake of filling it is pointless if we could get money for him.
  18. I know he’s right footed but think i’ve only seen Guehi play on the left side.
  19. Yeah but every other club nowadays has that and a director of football so less gets passed on to the manager. Just adds more work.
  20. I think the manager has earned the right to pick his own players now to some extent. But I also think it’s impossible to for him to have the time to watch enough football to know how good other players are outside of the Premier League.
  21. Howe is in a far stronger position this year than last summer and I couldn’t ever see it working between the two of them.
  22. Players shouldn’t be walking out with their kids and holding babies 2 minutes before kick off when you need to win. Leave it until after the game.
  23. I think he hasn’t tried a leg and played poorly for most of this season. Every time he loses the ball his first reaction is to drop his head or stop before he reacts and tries to get back into the game. I know some people disagree but a lot of other people have also seen it. So he’s either a lazy bastard, which the season before would suggest he isn’t, or mentally he’s not in the game.
  24. I’ve seen him play well. I’ve seen him try harder than he is now. But mentality is about keeping doing it when things aren’t so good, not seen that.
  25. You can talk about a top mentality all you want but i’ve not seen any of that on the field.
