Neves was quite derogatory about our style of play earlier in the season. Even though what Neves said was a load of horseshit and probably said in frustration, I'd wager if Gordon had said anything similar alot on here would be using it as a reason to hate on him even more. No reason we can't get both of them or that Gordon will be our only signing this window.
-
Or sees him as Miggy of the Bruce era. Just a few tweeks to his game and he'll be on another level.
-
I do think if he signs that whole thing he got into with Trippier and Schar will be laughed off and they'll probably be pleased to see him on their side doing it to the opposition. Won't be even slightly an issue. If this happens I'll be willing him on like every other player when they step on the pitch. One of the few in the league that can probably keep up with ASM and Isak also, so perhaps just that alone will lead to some goals/assists.

Exactly what I thought when I saw that stat. The Liverpool team (most recent) on that list did it playing very similar football to what we are now, albeit with a much bigger squad. Very impressive indeed.
-
I'd agree that 6 points from West Ham and Bournemouth is really needed but more so because the 3 games after that are Liverpool, Brighton and Man City. That's a really tough 3 game run but going into of the back of 2 league wins and a place in the League Cup final should help massively.
-
That moron on SkySports News saying that Everton are interested in Thomas Frank from Brentford. Well I bet they are but no one in a job should realistically look at taking that job, it's becoming as ridiculous as the Watford job.
-
That's a big result for us and actually makes our point gained away at Palace all the more valuable. Nice gap to 5th now and a little break from the league before a good chance to extend the gap even more against West Ham.

Another great goal. Saka is far better than alot give him credit for.
-
Fantastic goal from Rashford. Annoying but fantastic.
-
Probably in the minority here but I'd be okay with us spending 80m on Declan Rice in the summer. Absolute guaranteed proven top level Premier League CDM. Him and Bruno could be in our midfield spine for the next 6/7 years. Obviously it's alot of money but not sure you could find a much surer thing than what he'd give for the team.
-
It was probably Bruce.
-
Could conceivably see Brighton, Fulham and Brentford all finish above Liverpool and or Chelsea. Those two have also still got European football to play this season so they could even become more distracted and disrupted than they already are.

He wouldn't be who I would choose but I'm not Howe and he's proven more than enough to me so far that he can take any player and make them into something exceptional. So as long as the deal is a sensible one (fair price/fair contract/fair wage) for the club then I'll be interested to see how Gordon can do and trust that Eddie will get him playing well and to the standard we now expect.
-
Not sure if it's been said but Wood is starting for Forrest today.
-
So in that case he may play the entire 90mins if we aren't ever comfortable?, which is very possible. I don't see him starting and probably only coming on for 10 minutes if absolutely necessary.
-
Surely we wouldn't be looking at DCL. He's just as injury prone as Wilson and even though he's better than Wood I actually think he plays a similar sort of gamestyle which is something Howe said he didn't want.

Basically way too good a deal to turn down for a player that probably would have left in the summer anyway. Frees up a sqaud place that we now need to fill ideally with a midfielder first and foremost.
-
I've never been a fan of us signing Gordon but the thought of adding an another player who seems to excel at winding up the opposition does make it slightly more appealing and like you say the fact he'd be our irritating little cunt if it did happen, i reckon i could get onboard with it if he's who Howe wants.
-
Neither can Wood, but Howe still played him there. I'm talking about who he sees now as 3rd choice with Wood leaving and it's Joelinton without a doubt.
-
Perhaps Howe doesn't see Wood leaving as actually a huge dent in the striker department. I've no doubt if Isak and Wilson were both unavailable he'd happily have Joelinton back up top with how much he's improved and how much more confidence he has in his game.
-
Someone's coming, we know they wouldn't have let Wood leave if there wasn't an almost certainty we'd have a replacement. Cant see it necessarily being a like for like positional replacement for Wood. An extra CM or a player who can play across the front 3 is more likely I think. I'd be surprised if we do sign the 18yr old lad from Brazil that he'd be the only signing. We'd need someone who can get into the team sooner than later if needed.
-
But ASM doesnt need replacing within our current sqaud. Fraser does, Murphy does, Wood does because those players are 3rd/4th choice in their respective positions. We need to replace those players with higher quality who can challenge the likes of ASM for a starring XI spot.
