  1. I agree - Gerrard did well in Scotland but you can't compare that to the Premier League. I think over time he will turn out to be a decent middle of the road manager but he's no Pep or Klopp.
  2. Cheers - I couldn't remember the details and was thinking I was the only one who read about it - it speaks volumes about the man to me.
  3. Totally agree. I hated those corporate (often embarrassing) team building exercises but I think Eddie (like all top managers) is taking a far more holistic approach. Everything from diet to mental health and everywhere inbetween. You hit the nail on the head comparing Bruce's lads weekend in Portugal with a 5 minute jog on the beach to the highly professionally organised trip to Saudi - it shows how far we have come in a short space of time. The fitness levels have gone up 100% over the past couple of months. I think he called the Bruno debut perfectly. We know Bruno is going to be a regular but it was a vote of confidence to those players already there and doesn't upset the apple cart.
  4. Looked as if he'd been in the team all his life.....solid and sensible....a quietly, confident, brilliant debut.
  5. and while it's good to see a new breed of young English managers coming through (Gerrard, Lampard) there has been a lot of talk of how they will attract big names because of their status....well believe me......plenty will want to join that other good young English manager, "Eddie Howe's Newcastle" come the summer!
  6. I read an article about him somewhere. He spent his time out of football going round Europe and the UK visiting clubs and learning more about psychology, fitness etc. He seems obsessed with continual improvement and studies every aspect of the game, which was reflected is Frasers comments. He has a philosophy and a vision and is extremely driven. He's very level headed, sincere, honest and balanced and clearly a man 1-2-1 manager when he needs to be. I honestly think he has the potential to be a great manager and to take us onto the next level.
  7. Always liked Mitro, always committed, sometimes too committed resulting in too many red/yellow cards. Great striker, great character.....but a bit of a liability.
  8. I wonder if they've thought of advertising it in the jobcentre or putting it on Indeed?
  9. No wonder he is credited with so many touches....cheating bastard
  10. We know....that's why we want him to get the job
  11. In one thread they're talking about needing a pitch invasion........dig yer flares, platforms and tank tops out lads - it's time to go back to the 70's
  12. Totally agree - it's the same misplaced confidence that Defoes goals were going to fire them up to the top of the league......but God it's fucking amusing
  13. Agree, I've always rated Howe. I think he's earned his big chance and NUFC is it. I know it's unlikely and I'm probably a bit of a dreamer but I'd love him to be to us what Alex Ferguson (aka Taggart) did for Manure.
  14. I keep saying it but once the takeover was announced, as long as the owners did what they said they were going to do, I have never thought we would be relegated. Once they signed Trippier I knew it was the real deal. It will only get better and better. Watford, Burnley and Norwich will go down although Everton, Leeds and Brentford aren't out the woods yet. The difference between us and all of them is that we are on the up. We have bought wisely, we are together, we are playing well and confidence is buzzing. None of the others have the feelgood factor..... so stop worrying about relegation and enjoy the rest of the season.
  15. and well done Eddie Howe....called it spot on and gave Bruno a cameo.
  16. Hate to be a correct clever bastard but I called it as 3-1 or 4-1 earlier in the thread and said we would come out on the front foot - got the scorers wrong though!! Everton are deeply in the shit now.
  17. Oh yes, but that's just my eternal optimism Watford, Norwich and Cambridge are all too fresh in the memory - but I feel the team with the new signings will be up for it tonight.
  18. I think (hope) we will be on the front foot from the off and predict a 3-1 or 4-1. Wood to get off the mark (maybe even a brace), and ASM among the goals. Got a feeling Joelinton is gonna be immense tonight and Bruno to have a solid debut (whether or not he plays the full 90).
  19. Some mackem family will be eating well this weekend.....once they've sold it all at the car boot sale there'll be enough dosh to buy the whole family a slap up cheesy chips and blue pop extravaganza.
  20. Maybe, but winning the FA cup with what was still a very good premier league squad, is not the sign of a top manager. He's just gone out of this years cup 4-1 to local Championship rivals in what was a derby game. Take away what he has done in Scotland and his record in England, set against the resources he had/has, is very poor (in my opinion).
  21. Yeah, I probs overhyped the comparison to Bruce who is mega shit...... but I just don't rate Rodgers and I think once he leaves Leicester and goes to a lesser team he will be found out for how crap he really is.
