Evolution doesn’t come or go with one signing though, this is going to take time and more players will come and go before we are picking apart low blocks on the regular. We would be ridiculous transitionally with Elanga involved in our current set up, it’ll be fine if it happens.

I think this a narrow view you’re taking mate, we’d all love a technically gifted winger who can also give us the physical output that Howe desires but these guys don’t come within the restraints we are currently working under. We can go pretty far with our current identity, Liverpool eventually won a CL with it.

To be fair, every side struggles to break down low blocks. We arnt in a position to build that side right now.

Feels like we are seeing an opportunity here with Forest likely being PSR tight, he’s a great player too. Although I might prefer some more technical ability, he’s is absolutely in fitting with the bread and butter of our system and identity which are physical attributes.. and that has to be a must with any winger we sign. He’ll upset a few of you on here if he’s signed, but if it happens you’ll all come around like you did on Gordon.

He needs serious game time to develop, as any other player does. If he’s patient enough he will get it here, there’s a lot of football to play next season.

Agree with the sentiment, but I often feel that our transfer approach doesn’t necessarily follow priority in terms of position. We are very opportunistic and I think if the right deal for the right keeper is there then it’ll happen regardless of if it’s first or last.

Sickeningly good signings for this stage of the window, Reijnders is a monster.

I don’t think we are looking at him and thinking we can bring a better season out of him than he’s ever had before, he’s strictly a cover/third choice striker who might get starts in early cup games at most. By next season you’d expect Osula to be ahead of him if the plan for Osula is to play centrally. Also Eddie won’t rinse this guy in training if he’s not capable, in fact he won’t be signed if the concern is that great that he cannot even train to a good standard - that’s a non starter conversation. They will know more than us. Theres no massive upside to a DCL type signing, but I get why they might think it’s worth doing for a couple of seasons.

Fortunately he won’t have a massive workload here, I think Howe will know when and if to use him better than we will. The concern we all have are his hamstrings, the latest time being the by far the worst at 100 days of inactivity. Again though, as second or third choice and only used for selective games I feel that they think he can be managed. If they dont think they could get more out of him than they could Wilson then he won’t be signed.

As a Wilson replacement he’s absolutely more than fine, relatively cheap outlay and I think people generally under estimate him as a player. He also ticks all of the boxes that Howe likes to see ticked.

But not as good as Kellehers, in my opinion of course. Also, I find the Cunha deal a bit strange. Amorim has been quite ruthless in his approach of weeding out the bad attitudes and egos only to have replaced them with another..

That’s a great deal, I’d have been happy with him. Hes a big upgrade on Flekken for the feet ability alone.

The increase in depth and quality from just those 2 signings alone is absolutely massive. I do feel that we can gain the easiest and quickest % jump in terms of the overall output of the side by signing a keeper with feet, if we can get those 3 done and dusted early we’d be looking great.

He’s getting the ‘thankyou for your service’ Ritchie/Dummett type of offer because Howe clearly values him being around the squad. Howe will know far more than us on how much can be expected of Wilson for next season, and we know if he stays he won’t see many minutes outside of a crisis. I can’t see him signing that anyway, he’ll still get decent offers from abroad I’d imagine. He could have one nice contract left somewhere.

Hard to turn down that kind of money though
