Reads like he might have changed his mind? I think that move would have been a great test of character and an into the fire season for him, shame really.
-
He needs to play week in, week out to develop from where he’s currently at. As he’s not ready for PL/CL let’s get someone else grow our asset for us for a season.
-
Think that’s it for us, another CM would have made this a very solid window regardless of Isak.
-
I did hope for another CM (had dreams about Gallagher), but other than that it’s a solid 8 for me regardless of the Isak situation. Think we’ve actually performed very well in the market with all that’s gone on, difficult window but we’ve come out of the other side looking rosey. And to make the point, getting what we got for Isak wasnt that bad in the end. We got gangbanged by all parties (player, agent and buying club) and only took £20m less that we had supposedly quoted originally. He could never have stayed after he went public, so good riddance and thanks for the cheese.
-
Very sensible for all parties I think, that’s a great league for him to get starts in for where he’s at right now. He could well come back in two seasons time ready.

Villa do seem to like toxic egos on massive wages, especially from Man United

Jackson is the best option.

Again, it’s not really comparable to Wissa. This was a bigger, badder situation all round. We didn’t deliver on a bigger contract and he wanted out and fucked us. Wissa is also not one of the best strikers in the world, wouldn’t have cost a hundred million plus and Brentford didn’t have Liverpool breathing down their necks. The situations are not comparable. Nothing good would have come from him staying.
-
Today, one day before deadline not while everyone still had time. I don’t think Wissas carried the same energy either, the door has been left open there. Point remains, Isak, his agent and Liverpool backdoored us on this. I can’t see how you can be upset with the club, he was never staying after going public.
-
Howe wouldn’t have wanted Wissa back either if he was Brentford manager. Two players acting the cunt, but different situations. Wissa didn’t reject contract talks and post public messages twerking for us. It’s just business at the end of the day, unfortunately we got fucked by one of our own from maximising our profits on them.
-
We were never ever keeping him after he went public, that was the end. It would have only been a negative situation all round to try and reintegrate him. £125m is the best of a bad situation, had he and his agent (and Liverpool) not had acted out we could have gotten more. It was all orchestrated to drive the price down. You end up with two options, try and reintegrate a bad apple who has burned his bridges or take £20m less that you wanted? It’s a no brainer.
-
I just get the feeling that Howe feels the bridge has been fully burnt by this point and wont want to attempt re integrate him into the squad, it just goes against all the ethics and standards he has carefully managed and set. Isak and his camp have tried to reduce his value and lower the fee which obviously Liverpools end have also had a part in, just such a mess. Going public like he did was the end of his chances of being in the squad after midnight tomorrow imo.

Knee jerk stuff. Super impressive from Palace to lose some key players but keep that momentum, where as Villa have done the opposite.

Villa look like they skipped pre season
-
He did look bad indeed. An uninterrupted pre season would have done him a world of good I imagine, but again he could get injured next week and we’ll be saying well that’s why he was moved on
-
He was never as finished as made out on here obviously, but can’t help but feel that he’d end up injured again trying to keep up with our intensity. Think West Ham’s current style will get the most out of him in terms of availability.

Szob is a monster
-
That’s a fair point, I guess my point was it’s not a like for like replacement at all but yeah LCM has to be Ramseys position without a formation change.
-
To be fair they did end up winning the FA cup with him
