James Maddison (now playing for Tottenham Hotspur)
Solitude20 replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
I am not sure about calling him a winger tbh. A wide midfielder is different than a winger. They both play close to the touch line, and on paper they occupy similar spaces, but they influence the game differently. A wide midfielder relies on passes and creativity to create chances for the team, while a winger relies on explosiveness and dribbling skills to create for the team. Look at the last England team, Maddison and Saka had different roles and they influenced the game in different ways even they they both played close to each touch line. It was Saka who performed the winger role, and Maddison played a playmaker/attacking midfielder role that happened to be close to the touch line. I believe we really need someone who is explosive and pacy, someone who can get past defenders multiple times per game and make use of the empty spaces at the flanks when we are stuck in a game, and this isn’t Maddison tbh. We can get Maddison as a central playmaker though, that’s for sure. In last season, we were toothless and ineffective in many games where we were playing against teams that defend in a low block. We were just passing the ball around and then just crossing into the box. It was only when ASM came in the last few minutes that we suddenly became more dangerous. It was him who unlocked their defenses by attacking the spaces at the flanks. For a winger, I’d rather if we sign the Diaby type than someone like Maddison, as we really missed that last season. -
This is the first time I watch a Brazil game just for one player. I am not even looking at the ball, I am just watching our boy move around.

I disagree. If we didn’t, the general transfer thread would be all about this particular story.
-
We have the new UCL format for the 24-25 season, and so that means the top 5 from EPL will qualify next season (most likely).
-
So are you saying this thread of 33 pages in 2 days has been for nothing?
-
With those early important games (the 1st four games are all our rivals), I think it really matters if the new players join earlier in the window and play those games.
-
I don’t know if those rumors as true, but a midfield of Barella, Bruno, and Joelinton would be one of the strongest central midfield combinations in Europe.
-
His Wiki page already has him as a Newcastle player. Who did this?

Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

I would be glad if he did, as that would mean he’s getting proper playing time, and that includes UCL football. -
Didn’t he agree to lower his salary to still play for Barca in 2021, but La Liga wouldn’t let them register him?
-
It does look like he plays the same role as Guler, and I am not sure who’s better. Guler has some insane dribbling skills and ball control, and he’s only 18. Both Szoboszali and Guler are the national hero type, as it is clear those two players will be the face of their national names for a long time. Having them here will boost the popularity of the club in those nations.

LOL.

Looks like this is the official one. And I like it tbh.
-
The player himself liked our instagram photo after defeating Brighton 4-1. That’s a very promising source if you ask me. Botman liked our Instagram post when he was still a Lille supporter player.

Same height, makes sense.

Does he play in the same position as Kuol? -
So Eddie would leave out healthy Isak or ASM and play Joelinton as a left winger?
-
But as soon as both Almiron and Isak were back, Joelinton didn’t play as a winger anymore. So it is clear that he chose him when his other main options were out for injury. Don’t also forget that ASM has not really fully recovered even at the end of the season. I wouldn’t see Howe play Joelinton as a left winger and leave out healthy ASM and Isak.
-
It is not that Howe liked him there, it is more like other options were injured and he didn’t have much choice. ASM and Isak were injured for much of the first half of the season, and then Almiron and ASM were out for much of the second half of the season.
-
I think joelinton would be wasted there, as he could otherwise dominate the midfield. His ball winning abilities would be more influential if he plays in midfield rather than near the lines.
-
Didn’t expect to see J7 there as well.

Champions League 2023/2024: Group F (Newcastle, Milan, Dortmund, PSG)
Solitude20 replied to Marko NUFC's topic in Football
The minimum target for any EPL team in the UCL has always been to make it to the round of 16, AT LEAST. Anything less than that would be considered a failure for that team, and they would even be mocked by other fans. We should be a regular top 4 team from now on, and we should be held for the same standards. Weaker teams than us make it past R16 all the time. In my opinion, We shouldn’t target getting 3rd in our group and qualify for Europe League. Even the financial award for getting eliminated from R16 of UCL is more than making it all the way to the final of Europa League. -
Gordon looks exhausted.

This shit is just too good, must be done by Chatgpt.

LOL even the little Almiron is left footed. Those genes must be strong, and that’s probably why dad Almiron can’t really use his right foot for anything
