To be fair to @STM I do get what he's saying - if the deal was complete we wouldn't be advertising that we've got other targets. So obviously @Ando7 and his ITK buddies have jumped the gun a bit here...
-
It's much easier to turn around a player with a "bad attitude" if he's surrounded by staff and players with good attitudes. Having familiar faces like Hall, Livramento & Gordon who have all come on leaps and bounds working with Eddie will help too I'm sure.

It reminds me a bit of when we first went in for Botman, they wanted £35m, then they wanted £45m, then they wanted £50m+...eventually we walked away, got Burn and went back in for Botman in the summer. At least that's how I remember it

I don't have any faith in Chelsea's judgement tbf
-
Not to drag this into another FFP discussion but there are certain benefits to the selling club of a loan-with-obligation deal. If Chelsea think they're ok currently with the hotel sale, the women's team sale etc. then pushing some income into future years might work in their favour but giving them some cover once those shifty asset sales drop off the PSR calculations.

I read somewhere that he was offered a MOTD slot but he prefers to just stick with covering Newcastle home and away.

Anyone know what this is about?
-
Hang on, didn't he reject them both...to sign for Bayern??
-
I've said multiple times before but anyone who was at that Cambridge FA Cup game could see what Wood eventually brought to the team. Even an average at best CF gives a side a structure and shape it lacks without one. We were an amorphous blob that day.

If we assume the story regarding Guehi is broadly accurate in terms of fees etc, we either; 1. Know that we can pick up the RW we want for less money than the £50-60m we seemed to have aside for Olise or on a loan-with-obligation deal 2. Know/believe we can sell Almiron for a decent enough wedge to gain us some breathing room even if we spend relatively big money on Guehi (or whoever else at CB) 3. Have prioritised the CB signing over RW due to either top targets being unavailable or faith in Almiron/Murphy 4. Have a lot more money to spend than we (and the Twitter experts) believe I have my doubts about 4. and I wouldn't be happy with 3. but the other two could lead to an outcome where buying Guehi and a RW doesn't automatically put us in a position of having to sell a "purple" ahead of June 30th.
-
It'll definitely be making an impact. Clubs are thinking "We can spend £XXm if we sell Player X" but everyone is thinking the same and nobody wants to make the first move and have to play catch-up by making forced sales late in the window.
-
Yeah, the risk with Thiaw is that yes you've saved £25m versus Guehi but there's a chance you're going to have to spend at least another £30m+ if he doesn't adapt.

The worst Newcastle player you've seen in a match

Got to disagree with you on that one. Frustrating for sure but at least Wood occasionally looked like an actual footballer. -
That's how I read it to. Would be an absolute shit-show that mind, can't believe for one second we'd let that happen.
-
"Alright Will, welcome to the club. I'll show you around. Here's the physios office, here's the main treatment room, here's the Club Doctor's clinic, here's the rehab room..."
-
That's a heck of a fee mind. Obviously I see the appeal of a Tino-Botman-Guehi-Hall back four and I have confidence in Nickson/Mitchell/Howe etc. Fingers crossed there's money in the budget for the difference maker at RW we want. My hope is that we've (almost) confirmed the 3rd CF we wanted at £10-15m, we believe we can get the RW we want either for a decent fee or on a loan-with-obligation and that's why we're throwing wads of cash at our top CB target.

Kieran Maguire did something on football transfer inflation and came up with £200m+
-
Agreed. Unfortunately that seems to be the case. Won't be able to hold the moral high ground on this one I don't think. ...this on the other hand 😂
-
That was his release clause though wasn't it?
-
They're after de ligt aren't they?
-
He's right footed so presumably he's being looked at with RCB in mind
-
Either we reckon we can pick a RW for a decent fee or we've got a lot more money to spend than I anticipated...
