We've come within a whisker of doing that for the past two seasons in fairness. If we bring in the players we think we need (CB, RW) would we not all hope for another top 6 finish this season? I do agree with your broader point though, we're going to hit a brick wall at some point where we're going to have to rely on selling one of our top assets and hope we reinvest it well. Trying to bridge that income gap versus the top 6 is going to be impossible in the short-term under the current FMV rules.

I don't know what that Tweet is getting at - are some fans thinking that the money we earned from playing in the CL last season is going to be paid this season? I thought it was fairly obvious any CL income would be part of the 23/24 accounts/PSR calculations.

Personally, if we've agreed to put a release clause in his contract (assuming it was Bruno's side pushing for it), nobody has met it within the well-publicised time limit, then a team has come in offering less than the amount even later in the window, I'd be a bit pissed off if the player started pushing for the move.

NUFC kits & merchandise - 2025/26 home kit leaked pg. 825
Keegans Export replied to Ryan's topic in Football
Just the month I think. The only reason we got the exact date for the home kit so early was because of the Ashley vs NUFC/JD Sports case. -
That's what I think it means too. So if we sell Almiron for +£17m profit then we can spend £75m. If we move on more players it gives us the flexibility to spend more than that.
-
They were waiting to see if Bruno's clause was met I reckon, that's why it expired a week before the 30th June deadline. If we'd sold Minteh & Anderson to plug the gap then someone had picked up Bruno for £100m we'd have sold two promising youngsters for no reason.
-
If Man Utd have got a good deal it'll be all over the press this morning. If we hear nothing then we've probably got £10m+.
-
I agree, my guess was 7pts assuming we were around the £30-50m over mark
-
These two quotes suggest that we may have buckled to Man Utd at the last minute to satisfy our own PSR concerns, rather than the other way round.
-
I think 10 points would be a bit much but consider (and I know I keep banging on about this) Everton were going to get 5pts for their second deduction and that was for being £16m over. The only reason it got reduced was because they had already been deducted points last season and they had lost income from Usmanov being sanctioned by the Government.
-
It depends what has sped up the negotiations. If Man Utd were just trying to low-ball us pre-deadline, or knew the arbitration was going to bomb, we'll have got a decent wedge. Likewise if they had their own concerns and couldn't afford to pay up pre-30th June. If it was agreed late last night and we just needed an extra few million to keep us the right side of PSR then it'll probably be a lot less than we were asking for.
-
When they closed that loophole with Chelsea's 8-year contracts, presumably they didn't recalculate their PSR calculations? So Mudryk etc are still amortised over 8 years. This should be the same. If the PL decide it's a loophole and attempt to close it then deals that have already gone through should still be honoured. Unless there's a clear existing rule that has been broken of course.

Feeling a bit disappointed this evening I imagine.

23/24 = CL money, SELA, sales of Minteh & Anderson 24/25 = Adidas, SELA Hopefully we can add at least one more substantial sponsorship deal for the coming season.

I have a feeling he's coming in as #2 the same as Trafford would have done. The fee is going to be interesting. We didn't want to go to £20m for Trafford apparently (or was it £25m?). Perhaps we're giving them whatever his current book value is so Forest don't make a loss on the books but get him off the wage bill?

Yes there's no direct flights but fortunately we have a quick, reliable and affordable rail network that...oh hang on...

Elliot Anderson (now playing for Nottingham Forest)

Interesting that (at my count) 13 of the top 15 have gone to regular CL-level clubs -

Sangare is a player we have been linked with in the past I think -

I'll be honest I have absolutely no idea how to find that out -

The only concrete interest seemed to be from Brighton (mid-table PL), Everton (mid-table PL) and Lyon (6th in Ligue1). If a legit wonderkid is available for £30m is it not a surprise to see a higher echelon club stick a bid in? -

The £35m makes a lot more sense if there's a player coming in the opposite direction -
I think slightly different. Up until the clause expired there was a chance it could have been activated and we wouldn't have needed to sell anyone else, so why would we? Once it expired, we knew he was staying and had a week to find alternatives, which we have done. If we'd gone early with Minteh/Anderson then Man City activated the clause we've let two promising youngsters go for no reason.

I guarantee you're better off doing exactly that -

We were fine, but apparently the company doing the Feasibility Study on the SJP expansion charge by the hour and now we owe them £30m
