There would be a certain satisfaction in ending up with a shirt sponsor that literally none of the Twitter "ITKs" have even mentioned in passing.

There is absolutely no chance of picking up a LB, RCB, two CMs and a forward for £80m. Even if a couple of those are "free" transfers, you've still got to factor in signing bonuses (always higher for out-of-contract players) and the wages (which seems to be more of an issue than the transfer fee judging by our wages-to-turnover ratio). So either the reported budget is wrong, or the positions we're targeting are wrong.

NUFC kits & merchandise - 2025/26 home kit leaked pg. 825
Keegans Export replied to Ryan's topic in Football
Never had an issue with any of the designs (even the #4 one). The problem is that I can see myself ordering a shirt in July and not getting it until Christmas. -
If I was to hazard a guess I'd say we want a LB in the Trippier mode and a RCB in the Dan Burn mode. In addition to the extra depth, that would allow us more flexibility in our formation - we can play the extra attacking full back one on each side or we can play Trippier and Burn or new LB and new RCB. It means we could rest Trippier but still keep the same shape, albeit the width coming from LB rather than RB.

...and that many of those players have been integral to what we've achieved. We were all bricking it about Longstaff, Willock, Joelinton being out last night. Jacob Murphy is now Mr Reliable. The way Emil Krafth filled in for Trips last season (easy to forget). These are players who not that long ago I'd have been quite happy to never see in a black and white shirt again, now they form the basis of a Champions League squad. I keep writing stuff like this out and I still haven't got my head around what has happened.

Wor Flags: visit worflags.org.uk/donate to support future displays
Keegans Export replied to wor jackie's topic in Football
Regardless of what happens in these next two games, this will go down as one of our best and most enjoyable seasons in decades. Wor Flags has been a huge part of that and it must be great for the organisers to know that the two will be inextricably linked, something we'll talk about as fans for years and years. -
If we can beat Spurs, I reckon we'll do it If we go to Everton and win, I reckon we'll do it Southampton at home could be a banana skin If we beat Brighton, we'll do it If Liverpool drop points, we'll finish top four Seeing as I keep moving the goalposts in my head, tonight could finally be the night I say "Yes, we're going to do it". Still bricking it

We won't play in the new kit until next season when the new front-of-shirt sponsorship deal starts. -
There's an argument for playing no music at all after the game, just let the crowd take over.

This summer will be like having a threesome with two insatiable playboy bunnies. Exhausting but amazing.

The other issue is that every first team player we sell means another one needs to be bought. We're already looking at 5-6 new faces through the door, the more you add the harder it is to build up the chemistry and cohesion we need to play Howe's system.

We were linked with Sosa at some point too weren't we? Is he the R/L full back?

Firstly there are only (really) three spots to play for in the Championship, the three teams that go up. The PL has the top four, in addition to two/three places for EL/ECL. Plus there are four extra teams in the Championship. If you just had top three = promoted you'd have a vast number of dead games towards the end of the season. Now, that's not to say that the PL doesn't have dead games too, but they are less frequent (fewer teams in the league, plus more places to play for) and there is usually plenty of interest within the final few weeks to keep the product marketable without the need for playoffs.

Newcastle United 4-1 Brighton & Hove Albion (18/05/2023)
Keegans Export replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Glad I wasn't the only one He looked miles off and because there was a (relatively) long period of time between him breaking through and scoring the goal, I had convinced myself it was going to be disallowed and that the linesman would be flag-up as soon as it hit the net. -
We were in the Leazes, right against the east-side wall. Atmosphere was great I thought. A little nervy for about 10-15min after their goal but just seemed to get louder and louder the more possession Brighton had, felt like the crowd rose to the occasion.

Has that been made public yet? Obviously there's a massive difference between betting on himself to get sent off and betting on some Turkish 3rd Division fixture.

Literally no expense spared there...
