  2. He did, so let's see what they are and what they're worth. I imagine the Man City FMV case might be something that they're waiting on. But we've already done the biggest commercial deals we're likely to do (kit manufacturers, shirt sponsors). So unless we're talking stadium sponsorship, any further deals are unlikely to produce huge sums of money.
  3. Our revenues aren’t likely to increase much this year unless the vaunted new commercial deals make an appearance
  4. My labradors do that when I ask them a question
  5. They’re not likely to knock a billion or so off their value to do that, though.
  6. It wouldn’t get you 30% of Spurs. I’d be surprised if it was more than 20%
  7. Tbf, at least one of them knows it won’t happen because racism. Remind me of the background of the Reubens again?
  8. I genuinely thought it had more noise than Highbury tbh - though I’ve visited the new ground as an away fan fewer times than I did Highbury
  9. Doesn’t seem to worry Howe when we play Everton. Jack Charlton was a World Cup winner with England, but he was happy when his Irish team beat England. I don’t think that there is much credence to your theory tbh. England produces very few top managers relative to other leading football nations. I don’t think nationality makes a blind bit of difference, and I don’t think sentiment comes much into players and managers ‘wanting’ to win or not
  10. I never missed going to Maine Road, it has to be said. Highbury was lovely, mind. But Arsenal’s new ground actually has an atmosphere. Don’t think West Ham’s move to the Taxpayer Stadium is a useful reference point.
  11. I honestly believe that this is what tells us PIF’s intentions. If a state of the art brand new ground is on the agenda, they’re serious about NUFC joining the elite ranks. If it’s an extension to SJP, then they’re not. Just my take, I’m sure plenty will disagree.
  12. Yep. There’s nowt special about the ground - in fact, it is outmoded and lopsided. It is the location that is special.
  13. I'd happily see Klopp appointed England manager. Doubt he'd take it, but he should be a shoo-in if he was even remotely interested in the job. Don't think likeability comes into it.
  14. Looks like Potter’s achievements were quickly forgotten …
  15. If you don’t think Bellingham has great technical ability then we are never going to agree on who has
  16. Yep, definitely. I think Howe’s a smart bloke and won’t just take anything as an assumptive. I still think England appoints either Potter or Carsley, as the FA will baulk at the idea of paying Howe’s likely substantial release fee. But I don’t think it’s a given that he just turns the job down because he’s got unfinished business at Newcastle. He might have always dreamed of the England job. I mean, I wouldn’t swap NUFC for England, but that’s me.
  17. If you’d written that at any point during the 50 years prior to around 2020 I would have been nodding in agreement. But it isn’t so at present - nothing to do with the relative strength of the PL. This England team is built from the international youth sides that have won trophy after trophy, and England has a gamut of technically able footballers. You don’t need eleven superstars to win international tournaments.
  18. I mean, it isn’t though. The conveyor belt of footballing talent isn’t guaranteed at international level - Brazil, Italy, Germany, Holland etc are all particularly weak atm, yet if you said that ten years ago it would seem crackers. And Howe won’t know how his reputation will stand in a few years’ time.
  19. None of that is guaranteed
  20. Where did England get Southgate’s predecessor from again?
  21. I don’t think it would be disastrous, but it would be a pain in the arse. I don’t picture us appointing a buffoon should the worst happen. This is one of the few times when the England job might tempt a younger manager with an excellent reputation. It’s a cracking squad at the moment. It’ll be Potter or Carsley would be my bet, though.
  22. No, because they haven’t been gradually selling at all. Though I do think the idea that she has money trouble generally may have legs. Can’t imagine you would’ve got much from the Geordie dentist mind
  23. He doesn’t understand what he’s talking about. He keeps talking about her ‘liquidating’ her shares - as if she was selling for profit. She wasn’t - her shares were being diluted as she wasn’t keeping pace with the other investors’ insertion of cash.
  24. It would be like a mind challenge on the Crystal Maze to that fucker
