‘he won’t be next year he’ll be training ready for a Boxing Day game’ Want to bet?

I’ve seen us win the second division three times - I’m not counting that though See also - the InterToto Cup

It was Staveley who said Howe was Al-Rumayyan‘s choice. Hers was Emery. This was after the interviews, so what Al-Rumayyan knew about Howe beforehand I’ve no idea. Very little would be my guess

I’ve always been in the ‘who gives a shite who the captain is’ camp. It’s not rugby or cricket - the captain is pretty much ceremonial in football. They’re the ones who pick a trophy up first - so ours haven’t had much purpose in recent decades.

‘There was hundreds of them. Not just two, nee way. They had flamethrowers, that’s how I got burned, yer see. Of course, I chinned the lot of them. ‘Cause yee knaa me man, one punch straight down, six footers an’ aal’

Yeah, I thought it was something like that. I’ll admit I couldn’t be arsed to look it up.

Again, I’m not one of those who thinks that Howe should be under the slightest pressure (or at least additional pressure - being a manager is pressured) at the moment. But I never, ever agreed with that sentiment and it still pisses me off that a banner somehow got to speak for all of us (i also think it was a club that tries). I want a team that wins, I’m afraid. I’ve always wanted that. I’m not at all happy with watching just a bunch of triers.

Everyone’s favourite former pitman (who isn’t Jackie Milburn)

100%. Which can’t be said for a lot of players

You can score with your shoulder

Three teams have to go down - and given Bournemouth’s size and status, if they’re in the PL they’re in the mix for it. Saying he ‘got’ them relegated implies the fault lies with him. That’s pretty strong as he was the guy who got them up and established them in the first place - at some point they’re going to go down. You can’t defy gravity forever. For example this season I don’t look at Forest and think that Steve Cooper was to blame for where they are. He hasn’t been successful in getting them away from the drop zone, but he’s did a good job when he was there IMO.

Yeah, it’s not great like

Yep, six assists in the league since he signed in Jan 2019

I just really like Dan Burn, regardless of his limitations as a player. I know we get local lads playing for us, but he’s one of the few who actually sounds like blokes I know (I don’t just mean in terms of accent). I think he knows what a privileged position he’s in.

Given how far AI-type technology is coming along, have we almost reached the point where - with his permission - we can just get a computer to imitate Barry Davies’ voice, syntax and style and get it to commentate on every game? I’d be ok with that.
-
Neither Wilson nor Isak look fit to me. I like having two different types of centre forwards as options - especially when they’re both quality. The injury proneness is an issue, though.
-
I can also see how he took Bournemouth from ten points adrift at the foot of the entire Football League to being a PL club (albeit with a gap in the middle).
-
I don’t think there’s much controversial about the call. He’s not exactly miles off but a playable part of his body is ahead of play.

We were always likely to be the weaker member of the CL group - I agree with your views of PSG & Milan away (I thought we absolutely dominated PSG at home, it wasn’t a fluke scoreline). I agree with the first half of your first paragraph, though not the second, as I think that would need time to see if he evolves. I still think he can (and will), and that this is a transitional period we’re still in. I’m more than happy to give Howe plenty of time to develop the squad and playing style - though I agree that high-press, high-intensity play has a ceiling (and we’re seeing it).

No-one is protesting at the boxing. Or anywhere else for that matter - it’s in Riyadh. Protest usually is followed by a kangaroo court sentencing you to decades of torture or execution.

He’s a perceptive man, young grasshopper

Staveley understands that reference

Shoulder was ahead of the last defender, you could see that one still image and once the line was drawn it was even clearer. He’s definitely ahead of play.
