  1. Yep, the failure to sign a good winger in the summer is telling. We’re a winger away from being a good side for me.
  2. There ye gan, silence observer impeccably, ‘God Save the King’ … not exactly bellowed out. Amused me when they zoomed in on the crowds - most not singing, some of those who were were clearly singing ‘God Save the Queen’ …
  3. Yes, the bench isn’t great, but we knew that. It’s going to take a couple of years and several windows to build up a decent squad. Frightening to think about just how broken we were - Ashley handing out big contracts to second tier footballers meant we probably had the weakest squad we’d had during his horrendous ownership. Bruno is back though, three points today, ho’way you beautiful bastards
  4. I think McClaren brought Shelvey in. Could be wrong like, can’t be arsed to check
  5. I’m neither ashamed nor proud to be British - I had nothing to do with where I was born. I’m happy to have been born British though - there are many places around the world which, had I been born there, my life opportunities would have been significantly worsened. And there are some (fewer) places where my life would have been better - that’s why I emigrated.

    England

I also don’t think he’s had many bad games - but he isn’t an international class footballer. If you want proof, look at the gulf in quality between him and our FB on the opposite flank. Even then, there is an argument that Trippier isn’t even one of England’s best three right backs. This isn’t to say that Targett isn’t a good PL FB, but he isn’t England quality for me.
  7. There’s something genuinely moving about a minute’s silence, properly observed. 50,000 people not making a peep of noise. The vast, vast majority will respect it irrespective of their personal political position. And that should be enough, really.
  8. Just when you mentioned decency; I’d hope people would respect those paying their respects.
  9. You don’t get rulers in democratic republics A monarchy is a system of govt - if how people are governed is not political, then nothing is. It’s continued existence is (or should be) a choice. A political choice. Ask the French if they want their monarchy back - after all, theirs lasted longer than ours. edit: no-one is saying that there shouldn’t be a minutes silence etc. But any supporters display is a political statement - and makes it for all of us.
  10. Yes, it is. The length of time isn’t relevant - and it isn’t a left or right thing. Right wing libertarians and left wing Marxists are both unlikely to be pro-monarchy. If it isn’t a political statement, then I’m sure no-one would be upset with a ‘pro republic’ flag next to it.
  11. Yep. The fact that Shearer was laughing at the soppy twat said it all.
  12. Other than Isak, I think there’s a really good chance our front three (and their back ups) have a very different look within two years.
  13. I like listening to it while walking the dogs on Saturday morning. Sets me up for the day
  14. The point is that it is displaying a political position that some don’t agree with. Support for the monarchy is a political position - it’s got nothing to do with respecting others. Making statements on behalf of the support - which is what a flag display potentially does - is going to lead to criticism. I love those WF displays; it’s always great to see what they’ve come up with. It’s one of the most fantastic, communally-minded things our support has ever done (probably the most fantastic thing, tbh).
  15. I don’t think anyone is outraged at all. But it is a political statement, whether some like it or not. Theres no quicker route to divisiveness
