I think we’ve got a really good collection of players, a superb manager, and a unified club. I think we can get top four and win a trophy. 100%. I don’t necessarily think we will. And I love that feeling being back again. I’m excited for what might happen, but hopefully realistic in not thinking that hopes don’t equal expectations.

You’re right, Keegan did say that - but back then match day revenue and club shop income represented the majority of a club’s income. That’s why we were able to compete under our own steam. Once the broadcasts became international, and sponsorships and commercials driven by foreign markets, it skewed everything completely. The ‘Sky Six’ are in reality ‘the international six’ - they have revenue streams off the charts compared to other clubs because of their draw overseas.

Feels more like standard bad planning than 4D chess to me.

While I’m not saying that this was the case, does anyone really picture Howe coming out at slagging any player off who leaves?

They’ll all get on like a house on fire

I absolutely hate booing - under any circumstances. It’s utter shite - twee nonsense. Pantomime stuff.

C.27-31 used to be considered a centre forward’s prime. Wilson could have another five years left - comfortably - scoring goals in the PL. He didn’t look like he was slowing down towards the end of last season. You sell a player like that if you have a replacement ready to go.

If they actually have to live in KSA rather than Dubai or Bahrain - that's when it will wear off

There’s always been that disconnect - a sizeable portion of the regular travellers who hold everyone else in contempt, but shit a brick it something hits them. When I was a H&A regular, I’d hear plenty of voices bore on about that shite on away coaches all the time. The moment you care about being a ‘better fan’ than someone else is the moment you should find a different fucking hobby.

Any chance of something less cryptic?

He’s a clueless cunt if that’s the case - Arsenal is Norf Landan, they can afford £1,000 STs etc. If he doesn’t understand his market he’s hardly a business guru edit: He’s also not pulling up any fences at the moment commercially - and ticket sales don’t constitute commercial revenues in football finance; they’re ‘match day revenue’.

£74 for a poxy friendly in the poorest area of GB, where you get put into a raffle to see what you get to pay. It’s not ‘fickle’ at all. ‘Toondawg’ is talking absolute shite. So full of shite that he/she makes Burnsie look like the voice of common sense.

Fucking hell, when does the proper football start? It can’t come soon enough.
-
We’ve got plenty of wingers. We don’t have plenty of PL-capable centre forwards. His age doesn’t matter - getting rid of Wilson now would create an unnecessary headache.

Of course the KSA league is the priority. It’s their money. I don’t see where the suffering comes in. I wasn’t any less entertained when we were finishing high up in a mediocre English top flight in the mid 90s.

Let’s be honest, South America has the history, the clubs, and often the players yet almost no bugger in Europe has ever given a shite about S American football other than at a World Cup or when a player from that continent signs for your club. The same disinterest applies many times over for plastic leagues with loads of money chucked at them. The ‘product’ isn’t why the average European punter watches football. I think it would be great to see Asia develop competitive leagues and clubs - but I don’t think throwing unsustainable amounts at likely uninterested players is the way to do it. The £1bn deal for Mbappe would make an incredible difference if invested in KSA football academies etc. But they aren’t actually interested in that.

Love owt like this. Proper greedy bastard old school no.9 crack. Feels like a Supermac quote

He’s my favourite post-Shearer no.9. Shame Cisse was Pardewed though. Also, it’s late for the silly season if the rumour mill starts about us selling him to Spurs.
