The ball literally came directly from the corner. He had seconds to avoid putting his arm there. Unbelievable.

Apparrently because McTominay rejected them last minute.

PSG is just a magnet for players with a bad attitude

It's most unfortunate for PSG and Dortmund. It was not really unlikely for us to face 2 good teams, but we got the best team from Pot 3. Meanwhile Dortmund and PSG has to face 3 great teams instead of just 1, drawing the best team from both pot 3 and 4. Anything can happen in this group. -
Gordon or Botman for me

Pep has stated earlier that if any player wants to leave, they can just tell him and the club will try to sort it out. He doesn't want to have any players who doesn't want to be there 100%. Why did Liverpool let Mane go? Why did Arsenal let Xhaka go?

But loaning Lingard was priced at £15m

If it wasn't for Almirons purple patch last year, and we had the 2023 Almiron during that patch, we would definetly not have made top 4. Unfortunately it's probably unlikely that he will have that patch this season, but you never know. So basically we can't rely on that happening again, we need other players to step up this time around.

I think in situations like these, positioning relative to other defenders (and the goal) + chances of being able to control the ball is much more important to consider than what the guy who commited the foul could've done instead.. The opportunities of the player who commited the foul probably doesn't even count, we already know that he ended up making the error of commiting the foul instead of following Isak to pressure him.

With ASM we would never lose, any game that we lose would be perfect for ASM and we would win them with him in the team. We saw that last season when he scored 1 goal.

It's crazy that Molde has again created the most chances. Unfortunately Gala has the class to take advantage of the key moments. -
He's definetly a bad loser, but atleast he's not a bad winner. That would've been even worse.
-
A bit late in the window for that tbh. If he doesn't improve, then maybe in january.
-
Yeah that's fair, hard to tell yet. Atleast we know he can be a threat if a game opens up. I'm also a bit uncertain about this, because I'm also still more convinced about Joelinton at left wing rather than CM (I said that at the end of last season aswell). Good to have options, but wish there was more competition on the right side. The obvious solution would be to try Gordon on the right, but maybe he's not as good there. I think Gordon is better suited for the right side than Barnes or Joelinton however.
-
If it's easy, why is it often him and not the other players?
-
To be fair to him he's very good at getting into these situations where he finds himself through the defence with the ball. He quick and makes some good runs. In just 90 minutes, hes had 3 or 4 of these chances. Probably more than any other player in our team the first 3 games.

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)
Erikse replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
Didn't see what happened, just saw him limping off. I feared it was an ACL. Glad to hear it was the ankle, and not the knee. -
He looks really insecure when he's through the defence. Did have a very instinctive goal against Villa when we were 3 or 4 up, but other times he looks too hesitant. Need a bit more determination in those moments. Will probably be better with time.

Sven Botman: Out for up to 8 weeks after minor Knee operation (Howe)

Botman injury is the worst possible injury for us right now, maybe except from Pope. Even the fact that he is a LCB instead of RCB is another thing that makes it even worse. Ciaran Clark is available for free. -
Yes, but that was also partly due to lack of options. That's another reason why we looked poor when he was out. Not completely sold on Joelinton at CM with where we are at right now. I hope Willock will come back strong, I have a lot of faith in him.

Liverpool last season at Anfield. Edit: already mentioned

We're a bit predictable in the way we play atm, and Howe seems to be putting out the same players while also making the same subs again. We can't do this for a long time regardless, there needs to be rotation at some point due to added games. One thing we need to remember is that during our bad run of form this winter we were seeing and complaining about similar things. We looked predictable and were playing the same players with the same tactics and subs. However Howe acknowledged this and changed things up, and it worked brilliantly. Just when I started to doubt that he could adapt to being figured out, we went on a fantastic streak again. I'm sure Howe will spend a lot of time analyzing this game to figure out how him and the players can learn from this. He's no Steve Bruce who will solely blame any defeat on being unlucky.

Man United bounced back from losing 7-0 to these, so atleast there's some hope.
