We should get back to having cigarettes in the wardrobe at halftime.

If that's true, I stand corrected. Actually I'm struggling to find any info on that, other than certain players like Kane and Haaland saying that they never drink during a season. I knew that players get drunk off season, that's not uncommon. But during a season is news for me. Maybe they just usually keep a low profile.

For me the thing that I care about when I say unproffesional is the main reason why most top footballer don't get drunk like ever, and that's what it does to your body. I didn't think comparing forum users to professional top level footballers was seen as a sensible thing to do in here (I've seen that be ridiculed several times before, rightly so), but it almost seems like some drastically change their opinion of these types of arguments based on what the argument supports. We often talk about the margins. Small things matters a lot on the top level of football. You don't need to be a virtue signaling moralist to acknowledge that. Again I'll repeat that I don't know what happened, and if this happened, I fully understand that the bigger picture needs to be taken into consideration in this case (his struggles etc).
  4. "Noone" cares when it's not one of the cartel clubs. Funny, isn't it.

  6. Reminds me of the situation where Isak got brought down inside the box, and they didn't even show a proper replay. Noone talked about it, it was assumed that the defender took the ball when he didn't. What game was that?
  7. He comes off as reasonable and honest. Not like some others who would complain about critisism while being lazy as hell on the pitch. Good on him.
  8. Speaking of.. Ofcourse this may just be rumours.

Southgate wouldn't have gotten the memo until 2026 at the earliest. Great news, well deserved.

I don't. Again, the discussion was about the act of getting completely wasted during a season. That doesn't mean that it definetly happened with Trippier.

Why are you wording it like that? You should rather ask "is getting completely wasted during a season unprofessional?" Because that is the real discussion here. Just going out is way different.

I'm saying the same thing that I would say if a player of a different team had done the same. My opinion of an act doesn't change based on what team he plays for. That doesn't mean that I don't support the player. I've already said that I feel for him and that the situation he's in does change how we should see it. It also doesn't change my opinion on Trippier. What I have a problem with is to go after someone who says that the act of getting piss drunk while recovering during a season is unprofessional. That's just stating the obvious, not controversial at all. That also doesn't mean that he did do it.

Did anyone say that Trippier is unprofessional in general? Professional people can act unprofessional in singular events.
  14. Erikse

    Kieran Trippier

What we are saying is that the act would be unprofessional. If it happened. That's hadly a controversial statement, unless you're a biased die hard Trippier fan. Which I can understand if you are.

    Kieran Trippier

I find it hard to believe that the club would give a player permission to get piss drunk during the season, if that's what happened. Going out might be different, I don't know.

I think most if not all recognized the circumstances around it. And I agree that we shouldn't chase him out of town when he is in that situation. I just don't see the problem with calling the act itself unprofessional.

Allright. I was born in the 90s myself, so I don't know much about how it was back then. But today that is highly unusual for players on the top level. That's one of the main reasons why players last longer today.
  18. Erikse

    Kieran Trippier

Allright, I expect several people to defend it if it happens. Not that it will, though.

Would you care if Wilson got piss drunk while recovering?

Getting shitfaced in the middle of the season is not something we would brush off as a small thing if it was just about any other player. Not going to call him a waste of space, but it's pretty bad really. Obviously he is in a bad place, though, so you've got to feel for him.
  21. Guess you can't judge Longstaff too much without paying close attention to what he does off the ball. I suppose these are the things that Howe easily catches up on, either during the game, or when he's rewatching the game. That said, I wish we would pick players based on opposition a bit more often, rather than just automatically sticking with something that worked last game. For instance I wouldn't necessarily start Longstaff against a "park the bus" side, despite good form. Against Arsenal and Chelsea however, these games clearly suited him pretty well, so it was an excellent choice in the end.
  22. Yeah I said the same, there is allways the early hype of certain overperformers. I think their legs are getting tired, despite not having injury problems.
  23. Yeah that's why you don't make a judgement on teams who play CL, atleast until mid season. Fatigue could be starting to settle for them.
  24. I'm actually a bit puzzled about them not spending more in the last few seasons. Is it because the wage bill is so high? Or the charges? Doesn't seem like they are even spending what they are allowed to spend anymore, especially not when you consider their sales.
  25. I know. Maybe they got it wrong on the transfer market if the plan was to accomodate his style for the future years. But they seem to click now, that's for sure.
