I think the question mark on Ramsay is due to injuries, which has proven already to be a fair question mark so far unfortunately. Great player when fit though

I’ll be disappointed if it’s five at the back today. That formation should only be used against the big teams. These sorts of games need to four at the back
-
On the flip side, could be seen as a real positive having Wissa play two games in a week. Can be seen as his mini pre season to get him more match fit for the PL.
-
Starting to wonder what Rice offers, I think he’s a good player but nowhere near a £100m player. Would love to see Anderson/Wharton midfield at some point

We are playing really well. From a Toon point of view, Tino is such a classy player, he’s getting better and better every year.

We are getting to the point with this squad where we can just chip away at replacing aging players and not having to do major reshuffles each summer. It means we can focus on, hopefully, getting in some real quality. Hopefully some funds in January are available to get a new CM and potentially another opportunistic signing (whatever position that would be).

"How the devil are we chaps" followed by some shit crack about Chris Waugh liking sausages

Getting players over here isn't an issue. Donnarumma is doing his medical in Italy and I am sure I saw something similar with another player from abroad before, I just don't think we have the desire to do another deal. We will look at it again in January.
-
I will be amazed if we sign anyone else now. Not long left and noises are that we are done, I really hope you are right though!
-
He is going to become an £80m player isn't he . Frankfurt love developing a striker.
-
I get what you are saying but you would like to think that Woltemade/Wissa will score more goals this season than Isak/Wilson got last season, so if you look at it like that it isn't so bad. Also I don't think it is significantly less? It is usually 10% of the profit on the fee (correct me if I am wrong), so that would be just shy of £7m, so we are getting £123m for Isak and the combined fee for the other two is £128.5 I think.

Anderson is a big miss but would probably not be the player he is now if he stayed put, the move was good for him, but yes I get your point. I was using Kelly and Almiron as examples because they were part of the team that actually played last season and were not replaced in January so I view Thiaw and Elanga as their replacements six months later. If only we could have Minteh and Anderson now with what we already have, then we would be looking strong!
-
Yes he has but having a goalkeeper that can play the ball out with his feet will bring our game on even more, same as getting Botman back in for Burn as soon as he is fully fit and then eventually replacing Joelinton in some games where we need to keep the ball better. It is the area of the game where we need to improve the most and having a goalkeeper that is confident on the ball could have a huge impact. Last season even having that spell with Dubravka you could see the difference in that aspect of our game and we went on a very good run and he isn't even that good with his feet. I like Pope but we need to progress as a team.
-
Impossible to say really, but how often can you put your first eleven out? There used to be a huge drop off everywhere except LW. Elanga improves us (hopefully), Thiaw shouldn't be much of a drop off than Schar, Ramsay shouldn't be much of a drop off from Joelinton and Wissa and Woltemade give us plenty of options up front either individually or as a pair. Would also like to see Ramsdale come in for Pope.
-
For everyone calling him a cunt for refusing to play for Brentford, if the Isak thing hadn't happened to us this summer the vast majority of you would be buzzing that someone has wanted to sign for us this much and would be loving it. Just be a hypocrite and accept it.
-
Dubravka to Ramsdale = upgrade Kelly to Thiaw = upgrade Longstaff to Ramsey = upgrade Almiron to Elanga = upgrade Wilson to Wissa = upgrade Isak to Woltemade = downgrade but who knows how good he could become. A great window and some actual options for once. Let's move on from the Isak shit show!
-
Craig has been spot on all summer so you would assume that is it. A bit disappointing we didn't go and get another midfielder, I still think we could be light there especially with what seems like inevitable niggles for Joelinton, Ramsay, Willock and possibly Miley throughout the season. Hopefully we revisit that in January if we have a bit of wriggle room with funds to give us a boost for the second half of the season.
-
I look forward to a few weeks time when some of you have calmed down and realise that we have had a good window (all things considered) and the best squad we have had in a long time to help us compete on four fronts. This signing gives us guaranteed goals whilst Woltemade gets up to speed, who will hopefully be an elite striker in a few years time.
-
I am hoping that the club know that there is a bit of disappointment in them with how the Isak saga has been dealt with so try and save face by getting Wissa and another signing. Maybe wishful thinking!
-
Douglas says we are still working on other things…
-
Yes we have overpaid but he will guarantee us goals and it is what it is. Just need to forget the fee and back the players. Fingers crossed for one more arrival to bump the midfield!

Fratessi and a striker please
