I know he played 90 mins midweek but I can't see Joelinton not starting, games like these are made for him.
-
Possibly going with this? Pope Tino Thiaw Botman Burn Hall Bruno Tonali Joelinton Gordon Woltemade
-
I think the main beneficiaries in terms of goals will be Joelinton and Ramsey as they will be the ones that are expected to go beyond him when he does drop deep as well as the wingers. We have already seen it with Joelinton this season.
-
Feels weird discussing how we should potentially drop a goalkeeper in great form who has kept four clean sheets in five games but that is modern football for you! I would like to see Ramsdale as our first choice personally as I think it helps everyone else in front of him and will enable us to play higher up and more effectively. Would like to see Botman, Thiaw and Ramsdale start on Tuesday in the CL to try and give us some control.

I want to see us play a narrow 4-3-3 in possession and see what he is like. Get him and Gordon close to Woltemade as well as Bruno and Joelinton and have Hall and Tino provide the width with Tonali doing his usualy box to box role and covering defensively in transitions. That way we can see some of that intricate play that we have seen at times and try and get the wingers running beyond in between centre back and full back.

Completely forgot about this last week Brentford 1-1 Man United Chelsea 2-1 Brighton Palace 0-1 Liverpool Leeds 1-2 Bournemouth Man City 4-0 Burnley Forest 2-0 Sunderland Spurs 3-1 Wolves Villa 1-1 Fulham Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal Everton 2-1 West Ham

I think Howe will go for this: Pope Tino Thiaw Botman Burn Hall Murphy Tonali Bruno Joelinton Woltemade Same system as we saw at Leeds and Bournemouth with Murphy and Joelinton playing as inside forwards, not overly keen on it but got a feeling Howe will go with that to try and be solid. For me I would replace Burn or Botman with Gordon in the above and go 4-3-3 and get at them like we have always done.

Further to this. It will be the Wednesday because Tottenham play on the Sunday against Everton which is good for our gaps and that we have one more day to them.
-
We play Saturday and Sunday either side so if it’s the Wednesday we have four days between each game which should give us more chance to go strong
-
Take that, chance to knock out a top team
-
Just lacking confidence. He needs a run playing on the left and to get a few goals and assists again. Should have got an assist with the Osula header and could have scored a few himself
-
Agreed hence why I said when chasing a goal. Wouldn’t trust him in the PL to do the defensive work needed in a tight game
-
Said this in the match day thread but I hope he gets more minutes on the wing when are chasing a goal, especially if Woltemade is on dropping deep because he has the instincts to get into some good positions running off him.
-
Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t get near 20 PL goals in a season if everyone around him increases their tally as a result of the way he links it all up. We will then have Wissa when we need someone more instinctive in the box. Exciting times!

What the hell was Pope doing
-
Agreed. It wasn’t like there were loads of bodies in the way. You could clearly see it. He’s bottled it
-
‘Clear and obvious’ got involved yesterday to rule out that Fulham goal but not for that 😂
-
How’s that not a penalty 😂
-
Really solid half against a very good side. Think some people need to remember that they have won every game except Liverpool away and go second with a win today. Players there on the bench to nick it as well
-
This formation needs two players with more technical ability alongside Woltemade
-
Hall looks understandably rusty
-
Not Murphy’s fault but that ball from Nick would have been perfect for Elanga and his pace
