  1. Only ones I would rest are Trippier, Burn and one of Gordon or Joelinton (with the other going up front). Other than that, it is just anyone else who has a knock of any variety that we may not know about. Bruno will have an enforced rest soon as well. Decent chance he gets booked at the weekend and will then miss the Bournemouth game so I would start him on Wednesday.
  2. The Murphy injury was a real shame. I thought it was a good tactical tweak from Eddie and in those few minutes Miggy looked quite dangerous down the middle and it was giving them something different to think about whilst also giving us more width.
  3. Can’t believe how many players they throw forward when attacking. Fair play to them!
  4. Joelinton, Longstaff and Wilson not playing well here and when a few aren’t on their game you’ll get punished by big teams. Surely we should have had a penalty?
  5. A remake of the Goosebumps series is available on Dinsey plus, if anyone is stuck for things to do tonight.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

We have signed a few sponsorship deals that are effective immediately (Saudi Airlines etc.), that might enable us to spend a little bit in January if the right player is available. If not, I have faith in the players we do have, especially with Willock returning and the improvements in Anderson.
  7. I have been saying it for a while. I don't know whether it is good that they always seem to find a way of winning games or a concern for them that they never seem to be in control. As you say, it should be unsustainable but it has now been sustained for a long period of time. I don't like ETH but you have to applaud the fact that they grind out wins, but hopefully they will start drawing and losing some of these games that they keep winning soon. They have won five games this season by one goal and all of them to teams you would expect to finish in the bottom half and the majority of them without playing well.
  8. I can see this game being similar to the PSG one in terms of blowing them away with a cracking atmosphere and intensity from the players. I can then see the away game being similar to the AC Milan game with them being dominant and us being solid. Fingers crossed we can get four points from them two, it would almost guarantee Europe after Christmas and give us a great chance of progression in the UCL.

    Fabian Schär

I managed to get to the game on Saturday and that was one of the best performances I have seen from a centre back in terms of complete control of the game. His passing was immense and when needed, which wasn't often due to the control we had on the game, he defended very well. One of the most underrated players in the Premier League.
  10. Seen a few comments saying that Villa will tail off and not be able to sustain their form. Sounds very much like the attitude of the 'Big Six' clubs last season when talking about us. I personally wouldn't write Villa off.
  11. I can see there being up to six teams fighting for fourth and fifth this season - Us, Tottenham, Villa, Brighton, Man Utd and Chelsea
  12. How likely is it that 5th becomes champions league? Is it purely based off the English teams performance in Europe this year?
  13. I’m not watching it, seems there are a lot unhappy that he hasn’t been subbed off at half time
  14. Fans aren’t happy with him for being selfish according to Twitter. Sounds like he is playing well and the selfishness can be coached out of him
  15. Just got back. Best match I’ve ever been to, the atmosphere was brilliant, loved it!
  16. Barely touched the ball as well. Would be more than happy for Anderson to start, he has probably earned it. However, Tonali has CL experience which could help.
  17. Think I would go for: Pope Trippier Lascelles Schar Burn Longstaff Bruno Tonali Almiron Isak Gordon I would maybe be tempted by brining in Targett at left back, thought he did well against Man City. No idea how this game is going to go, just buzzing to be there and hopefully we can get a decent result.

By that I mean mates that you have worked with for the last 'X' number of years which came into disrepute recently through Dean and Taylor. It is also much more difficult to overrule a decision made by someone who is your senior if you are a new referee and the VAR is someone who has been a premier league referee for the past 10 years, again this is something that has come under the spotlight before. Obviously the ex-professional would need to be someone who has no affiliation to either of the team in question as you would do anyway with the referee and there decision would never be final.

Not sure how anyone can be against ex-footballers doing VAR (could even just be retired lower league players). One of the main problems of VAR is that the referees can easily be 'mates' or can be someone's boss so they don't like to overrule decisions. Having an ex-footballer means that they can be more objective and actually have confidence in sticking with their own decision when they clearly should.
  20. They played some good stuff against Man Utd but never looked like scoring. The young winger they have got looks dangerous, other than that we should have far too much for them. 3-0 to us - Botman, Wilson and Gordon

    Lewis Hall

As mentioned, great pass to Isak early on. Not so good pass to Pope later on though
  22. I was the same. I was up on my feet at home cheering the late Dummett and Targett tackles/interceptions. Loved the passion we showed!
  23. Although it was the best Bruno has played this season. It also goes to show that we take him for granted even when he isn’t 100%. Nobody else can get close to what he can do for us, changed the game

    Sandro Tonali

Worst player on the pitch in the first half but was solid in the second half. Some good link up play and grafted well. He will come good eventually

    Tino Livramento

One of the best debuts I have seen at Newcastle in a long time, especially considering the quality he was up against. He was brilliant!
