Woltemade is a hell of a player

Getting Botman fit and starting as many games as possible is so important. Adds so much to the way we play out from the back.

We got the fifth most points last season from losing positions in the league. 19 points in total

Barnes is frustrating me at the moment. Gets into decent positions but seems to take an age to get a cross or shot off and doesn’t really shift it so it just gets blocked. His defending for the first goal was very poor as well. Maybe he just needs a goal to get some confidence

Left wing is a strange place at the moment. Has always been a selection dilemma due to the quality of Gordon and Barnes. At the moment I can’t decide which one isn’t as poor as the other! Hopefully Gordon will get some confidence from his goal.

Yeah he played well. Just wish he was a better passer of the ball

Bit frustrated with that. Can’t fault the effort but think we can do so much more with the ball. Off the ball Tonali and Bruno were great but seemed rushed and sloppy in possession which was unlike them. Joelinton and Barnes really poor today for me and you need everyone on it. Thought Elanga was really good at times, Woltemade promising again and Thiaw and Botman showing what will hopefully be our future at the back with some really calm play at times which started off the move for the goal. More positives than negatives but think we could have got something with a bit more composure.

Tonali is the huge difference from our last CL campaign to this one. So excited for this game, I am confident we can get something from it

I’ll trust Howe’s choices but would love to see us 4-3-3 and give it a real go. If we were away I would be happy with 5 at the back, but not at home

Too early to say for Pedro with our strikers. Gittens would be our third choice LW for me, he just looks so meh. Caicedo is class, you would try and work it some way to have him, Tonali and Bruno as your CM’s. I would possibly take Pedro Neto over our RW’s though

It’s been said a lot of times but for the money spent they don’t half have some average players. Should be title favourites with the amount they’ve spent since Todd got in charge

Saw a tweet from a Liverpool fan before our game against them where they did a combined eleven and some had Bruno in but not one of them even mentioned Tonali. Couldn’t believe it. He’s comfortably ahead of Bruno in my opinion

Great debut that, didn’t get the ball much but when he did he was almost faultless with the ball. With more training and more fitness to PL levels you can see how much he can elevate the whole team and hopefully get involved even more. Isak was an incredible striker but you can see how Woltemade could work better for the team than the rat did. Perhaps as important, but he seems like such a nice guy who’s buzzing to be here and I’m sure he will integrate really well with our tight knit squad. Exciting times!

Hopefully from next week Hall will be back in the starting eleven and Trippier on the bench. Very good player to have in reserve but the quicker we can get Tino/Hall back on the pitch the better

Solid performance and a huge 3 points! Schar MOTM for me, big shout outs to Woltemade, Tonali and Murphy as well. Tino, Bruno, Pope and Burn also very good. Trippier improved but was all over the place at first. Disappointed with Barnes today, looking forward to the return of Gordon, think it’s a matter of time before he gets back to where he was and Big Nick will help him

I assume they will stick with two up top. JSL and the new geezer will be a real handful for teams

Strange game. Some good but we look open. Trippier has been awful, Schar fantastic. Barnes not great but should have got their guy sent off. Woltemade with some neat touches

Good team and good options from the bench again. Looking forward to this (as long as I can find a river)
