Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

The two passes to Alex Murphy from Pope have been awful, I am sure he is getting worse at kicking. -
I usually agree with this but at the same time if he had a verbal agreement to go for that price and we have bid higher then he is within his rights in my opinion. Shitty move from Brentford.

I would have thought it would be best to send Targett out on loan (if anyone would want him). One of the promoted teams or a top end Championship team to at the very least get some of his wages off the books. -

Did alright I think and thought he was one of the only bright sparks last week against Celtic. He would barely play anyway, would just need to do the Targett role of last season. -

Looking forward to seeing Alex Murphy against Saka, will give us a better idea as to whether he could be the backup to Hall instead of Targett (third choice in a way as Tino would go LB as second choice with Trippier RB). We could really do with moving Targett and his stonking wages on even if it is just on loan. He also needs it for his career as he will barely play here. -

Seung Soo Park on the bench. Can't wait for him to come on and make us all instantly forget Isak -

Bought the whole pre-season package thing from the website so feel like I have to watch these friendlies now otherwise I spent £30 to watch us get humped by Celtic. -
Said it before but if things go south on the pitch the fans will quickly turn on the Saudi ownership thanks to things like this. Howe is the glue holding it all together at the moment.

Yeah I probably agree, or at the very least you should only be allowed to loan out a restricted amount of players.
-
Having a buy back clause, a sell on clause and a matching clause is ridiculous. These tops teams just gatekeep all the players and do what they want. Buy back clauses and matching clauses should be removed from the game and I would also say that sell on clauses should only be allowed if you are selling a player to a higher division as they can really beneficial to teams lower down the pyramid. These big clubs having all these clauses is bad for the game.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Romano did that annoying thing about 20 minutes ago where he reposted his tweet from last night. Presumably this is to do with what Ben Jacobs has tweeted with regards to personal terms.

Huijsen, Cunha, Mbeumo, Joao Pedro, Delap, Ekitike and Trafford (have I missed anyone) are all thought to have been targets in some way shape or form this season with all of them turning us down for moves elsewhere whether we were just made aware and didn't bid or we actually got to the point of having bids accepted. What a depressing transfer window. Real Madrid once, Manchester United twice, Chelsea twice, Liverpool and now Man City. Just the two North London teams to go for a full sky 6 house.

Hope saying we might not go for a goalkeeper now. This would be a huge mistake and really concerning in my opinion if true, we really need a new goalkeeper to help us evolve. Can this summer get any worse?
-
Not the best source. I’m sure it was reported that it was more RB Leipzig’s demands not dropping from €100m. It was then reported yesterday that they’re dropping them by €30m or so presumably because they’ve realised nobody is biting at €100m

Isak going abroad and signing Sesko for half the price is the only conclusion I’ll be content with

AFCON starts at a strange time this year which would mean that he would miss the Christmas fixtures (starts 21st December). Would presumably miss: As a minimum, as the group stage is done in a week. Chelsea (H) on 20th December (first game is on 23rd December) Manchester United (A) Burnley (A) Depending on how far they would go in the knockouts if applicable Crystal Palace (H) Leeds United (H) FA Cup Round 3 Wolves (A) CL Game 7 They have Senegal, Benin and Botswana so they should make it out of the groups, so it is a significant amount of games potentially. Hopefully they lose all their games and he would be back for January. Or back in good time for Tottenham

Wissa Scalvini Doumbia or someone of similar profile Trafford or another goalkeeper of similar quality if he goes to Man City No more major sales Doesn't seem too unrealistic and would be a big improvement on what was a very successful season last year.

Huge mistake not to go for a goalkeeper in my opinion, could transform the way we play.

People are right to have some concerns. Pre season or not. We have a lot of fixtures next season and a lot of these players aren’t good enough. If we get injuries next year we need more depth to cope with it, at the moment we don’t -
Agree with all of this. Your original post criticised his sweeping which, along with shot stopping is his best quality though. Thats what I disagreed with

Lascelles looked past it before a year long injury so no surprises the guy looks absolutely shocking now -

Actually feel sorry for Joe White. Completely out of his depth, had an average season at MK Dons last year, shouldn’t be near the squad anymore -

On a positive note, Murphy looks alright. Off this showing I would have him higher than Targett in the pecking order
