Entirely possible. Just some puzzling details really

But where are the other bidders? If we're to believe this is genuine and not a strategic leak to Ornstein, wouldn't it behoove CP to court other suitors/publicize that interest? The other thing is we know Mitchell keeps tightly lipped, and we've pulled this trick before the last few windows.

Longer this goes on the more it feels like a smokescreen Editing to add does anyone else find it strange no one else is in for Guehi?

It will pick up on Monday. Expecting seismic movement this week one way or another.

I trust Mitchell but Guehi feels like a Howe move. Hoping its a smokescreen for a lesser-known talent and RW is where we loosen the purse strings. (Assuming we can't splash on both positions)

Some of you are tickled far too easily. And Eddie's feelings won't be hurt if you have points of disagreement. And its even sillier when you realize this is all over a likely planted rumor for a player we might not even be interested in. Do we need to bully?

im skeptical of advanced statistical analyses of defenders. Too dependent on club style of play etc. Eye test much more important imo

Fantastic so long as there is some plan in place for RW that doesn't involve mig or murph starting

Kind of signing where I think Mitchell sees something we likely dont. Young cover for two positions we need talent in, with potential to be in the starting xi on the wing? And for cheap, can hardly criticize.

    Lewis Hall

Don't think you're asking this question in good faith. We all know what he means - Howe plays his staples and takes a linger time than most others to integrate new talent. That's to say nothing of the merits of such an approach, either. Just the way he does it.
  13. Bruno F another year older, the engine that kept them alive last season and played far more than he should be at his age. ManU have been very lucky injury wise that hes largely been unscathed, but I predict he'll start to show signs of all the over-usage/age this season. We'll get champions league or EL next season and ManU will battle for 6/7 with Villa would be my guess.
  14. You don't get "alternatives" when you wait until a few hours before the deadline mate... That's why we were knocking on doors offering Anthony Gordon to his boyhood club after a fantastic season with us. The alternative was taking steps to remedy PSR issues beforehand, or transacting intelligently so we weren't in the mess in the first place (see Harvey Barnes transfer for 40 million, in a position in which we were already logjammed) Not gonna keep making, and re-making, the same points. But if you think trying to firesale AG with a few minutes to go before the deadline is good policy, then cheers I guess

Has the look and feel of a smokescreen all this
  16. Only reason this debate is still carrying on is because some are pretending like the Minteh sale was some masterstroke from the club, when it was very obviously the result of a series of blunders. We were a Liverpool email away from selling our young England international star until a prospect who quintupled his value agreed to a transfer to save us. I've said it a several times it does not reflect poorly on your fandom/loyalty to say the club was massively negligent in their handling of PSR. This topic is so played out though the thread really should be locked. Will only get worse once real matches start.
  17. Where are they getting this money from
  18. choosing not to believe this

    Lewis Hall

Many were very quick to dismiss Hall as cannon fodder last season on account of Eddie not playing him, and are now reversing course as his quality has become clear. (It was clear the last 8 games of last season mind.) It was no coincidence there were rumblings of Dortmund being interested a few months ago, especially with their eye for talent. Lad is a baller and it's turned out to be quality transfer business.
  21. Mate, if you think shopping Anthony Gordon for a desperate eleventh hour sale isn't the mark of poor planning, manifest.... I don't really know what else to say Are we denying now that we played fast and loose with PSR deadlines and it almost was catastrophic?
  22. Bang on. There should be no shame merely admitting we planned poorly, and lost a highly sought after talent for it. No one in here denies, as far as I know, that it was the right move to sell under the circumstances.
