  1. the Old Trafford win this season was one of the highlights of my time watching NUFC for almost 30 years, typical they got rewarded with Stamford Bridge where our record is probably even worse in PL era
  2. with Liverpool and Arsenal struggling to get results here it's hard to be optimistic given our injury situation and recent setbacks think we'll need a slice of good fortune like we had against Fulham if we're to get a good result everything seems an uphill struggle at the moment but I think it'll make us stronger in the long run under Howe who will be learning a lot from this season
  3. when the cross came in I thought it was harmless and was would be easily dealt with - when they scored it was like getting punched in the stomach. every player makes mistakes like that and think he's just going through a bad spell hope the fans get behind him and help him through it, he's still a top player and integral to the way we play.
  4. so deflated this morning sometimes I think this club is cursed - it's the hope that kills you! I don't know how Chelsea do this shit season after season by pure luck - getting away with at least 2 reds last night and then relying on a gift from Trippier and penos. I remember the cup tie at SJP in 96 and ever since then they must the luckiest club in the world when it comes to cups. suppose it's better than losing like that to Liverpool in the final! more likely Chelsea play Boro and Fulham of course.
  5. I think this will be similar to Bournemouth game unfortunately, especially if we're starting the likes of Ritchie and Joelinton still out. Maybe Bruno can inspire the team again but I think it'll be an incredibly difficult and physically demanding game, and we just don't have the bodies to go again in 3 days. Turning into a bit of a nightmare month but hopefully some light at end of tunnel soon when transfer window opens in January.
  6. would maybe start with Gordon up front to protect Wilson, also less running for Gordon who probably needs a rest think Howe did similar at Old Trafford something like Dubs Burn / Hall (if eligible) Lascelles Krafth Tino Bruno Miley Longstaff Joelinton (if fit) Gordon Almiron Wilson, Isak, Botman and Trippier on the bench would be as strong as we've seen in a long time
  7. so unlucky both are massive losses ahead of Chelsea game
  8. against a free scoring Fulham ffs! will be amazed if they keep a clean sheet today
  9. big test this! a bit concerned about Fulham's form, atmosphere, fatigue, getting more injuries, and our build up play without Trippier...
  10. looks like he could maybe make an impact off the bench against tired legs. given our injury woes I'd like to see what he can offer - then maybe Feyenoord could take him back on loan next season. edit - that said I've only seen clips of him
  11. I think we could have comfortably seen out a 1-1 draw if EL was the ambition. I'm disappointed to be out of Europe but glad they tried to play for the win, it backfired this time but in the long run I think this is the right approach.

    Harvey Barnes

January doesn't sound that bad, but somehow that's like another 6 games at least. Klopp was moaning about MaCallistar being out for over a week for same reason. December fixture is a bit of a joke for clubs trying to compete.

when it rains it fucking pours
  14. Like Allison's save against Miggy this season also touched on to the bar. Totally different complexion on our season if they go in. Of course such fine margins are quickly forgotten in favour of easy narratives - especially from people that want to see Newcastle fail.
  15. Presumably they're saying they were robbed of their right to CL football and would have easily qualified from this group ? Imagine there's also a lot of virtue signalling from such a morally superior fanbase.
  16. Coupled with our away form, I'm guessing they'll be favourites. Jammy bastards with their home draws.
  17. The way the balance of the game changed after they scored is frustrating, but sounds like those subs were enforced changes which is typical of the way things are going at the moment. Someone mentioned that goal seemed to suck the life out of the crowd. If so, with still everything to play for at 1-1, it doesn't bode well for atmosphere against Fulham, which is far less glamorous but at the same time a crucial game to stay in the mix for top 6. The players will be feeling demoralised so think the crowd will really need to get behind them all the way on Saturday. Hopefully a win will regain some momentum for Chelsea cup tie. Not worth thinking about the reaction if it's another defeat!
  18. Such lazy reporting but I can imagine this narrative gaining traction with other fans. No room for context or nuance. Richest club but handicapped by FFP in a way that doesn't affect the likes of Chelsea, City, PSG and others. Unfortunately, unless Howe keeps overachieving the knives are always going to be out. And it'll be the same for future managers I suppose.
  19. Was confident that we would smash Milan before the game and was looking good at ht. Really hard to take in how we've ended up bottom of this group. Non-Newcastle fans revelling in this run of defeats and pressure Howe will now come under from some sections makes it all the more galling. However there have been a lot of fine margins and bad luck - woodwork at home to Dortmund twice, Paris robbery, a dozen injuries at the same time including first choice keeper, Maigon's thumb etc. So disappointed to be out of Europe and worried it'll take a while to bounce back from this defeat. Fulham will see this as a good opportunity to play us now and then Stamford Bridge always a tough fixture, so things could get worse before they get better. Am confident league form will pick up in the new year with less games and players coming back. Good shot at the domestic cups so being out of Europe may turn out for the best in the long run.
  20. Howe is doing a brillaint job however eaten bread is soon forgotten. Other supporters and some sections of the media also desperate to see Newcastle owners pull the trigger. Beat Milan and Fulham this week then a few players back and everything will seem rosy again.
  21. Raging about that Romero challenge. Wilson lucky to walk away unscathed. Should be a 4 match ban which would completely fuck Spurs. Will be glossed over by the Spurs loving media.
