Think Minteh was sold more that it was like near £40m, and Murphy and Almiron didn’t have offers on the table at that stage and we always wanted a RW. Brighton obviously see something more in him than we do, otherwise I highly doubt we sell him, giving the lack of movement on RW.

It's no doubt he's a good player Barnes, and if he started majority of games like he has elsewhere, he'd be getting 10+ prem goals. Just we have Gordon LW who offers something different, and how Howe sets the team up, only one can play. Do feel though Howe must be close to giving serious consideration playing Gordon RW if we don't sign a RW, so Barnes then starts more. You can't be spending £40m on a top end output guy and have him on bench more often than on the pitch. Just a question in that scenario, would that annoy Gordon? I personally don't think it would, as Gordon showed under Carsley he's happy to play anywhere to benefit the team and he trusts the manager.

Better get used to it this season. Going to be on bench far more than starting. Wouldn't be shocked if I'm honest, he wants out as season goes on, especially if he has England ambitions. Never going to get into England squad when you can't get in over Gordon to show ability.

Not optimistic for this game. Always seem iffy when we play on south coast more often than not, and Iraola will have the players with movement and better quality than Southampton. score draw will be a good result IMO. Same team, with Kelly in for Schar.

Hypothetical, what would be consensus on squad if summer went like below when we were flapping around PSR? Gordon to Liverpool £80m Gomez to Newcastle £45m Eze to Newcastle £50m Overall outlay £15m.

2 years left makes it even more sensible to get rid now. Legs will be totally gone by start of 25/26 season and can’t afford to have an expensive chair leader / coach giving how our PSR went this summer.

Because we don’t need a squad of 25 senior pros Not even in Europe. Squad of like 19 senior outfield players will suffice with youngsters topping things up.

So in next 7-9 days we need to: Sign a CB Sign a RW Then sell / loan out at a minimum, Fraser, Lewis, Hayden, one of the GKs, Almiron. And then potentially Trippier, Targett, Wilson ideally too

It’s good business IMO and shows why Freedman is worth the hype. It’s getting maximum funds for players at the right point, and can be reinvested whilst club is in an ‘upwards’ position.

Being together doesn’t mean he’s staying. If he’s done cheating in Newcastle area, it’s probably a constant reminder to his wife, and moving away helps with things and a fresh start.
