Agreed RE that a new stadium must be in Newcastle. I remember all that shite about moving to Benton. Hate those sterile stadiums in places they ought not to be with massive fuck off car parks. I worry a bit about a North American CEO in regards to this but still optimistic generally that we'll get it right. Divnt agree with your other stuff but each to their own. : )

    Nick Pope

Just taking the piss. Pope has been solid and if he keeps his form he'll keep his place. Contract expires soon though so I don't see him being #1 next season.

And the offensive powerhouse that is Bradford fucking City. Up the bantams

I wonder if people from Newcastle and specifically those near the toon are more attached to SJP. To me it's hallowed ground. I lived in the literal city centre (John Dobson) for some time and the cathedral on the hill is ever present. Not just just the presence on the cityscape but the sound coming from the ground, the buzz in the centre on a gameday. I obviously want us to be bigger and better, but I hope they use roughly the same area. Leazes is not far and would present similarly.

There's a reason Bayern wanted him to be Kane's successor, and like Kane I've heard the term '9.5' used to describe 'em. Frankly I think we lucked out with the way our transfer window progressed and him becoming available. He's a unique talent and rare mold of a player. I hope he can hit his ceiling because it'll mean great things for us, plus be a joy to watch.

    Alan Shearer

Aye it seems so. You see the mask slip sometimes and it's good craic most of the time. I don't mind Keane generally but I think in this specific case (getting done by Al) he's still a bit het up.
  7. Even if that were true, which we don't know it is, is it really a bad thing? It was enough that this 19 year old kidda felt he had to stop fans having access to type horrid shit at him for a post celebrating his 50th match. Most of us would say that's the risk of using social media, but it doesn't make it any less shite or unworthy of condemning.
  8. I've never understood this. Now, it would be fine to criticise if they'd not tried, but typically every local player that breaks into the squad works their tits off. Why? Because they were fans first and understand what we stand for and what we care for AS fans. These fuckers with the attitudes mentioned in these recent posts aren't fans, least they shouldn't be. Jaded cunts with no knowledge and no heart, unlike the players they lay into.
  9. Not sure if it's been mentioned but something I just realised as I was looking at our fixtures. We host Arsenal this weekend then play away at USG in Champions League. There's less than 72 hours between the end of the Arsenal game til USG match. Surely Gordon and Wolt play vs Arsenal so I imagine Osula may get some decent minutes at USG. Be grand if he could gain a bit of form from Bradford and make something of himself.
  10. Aye. They have concrete walls surrounding the pitch (bad enough in itself) and very little run-off/margin. You can find pictures online but yeah leave it that. Just very sad.
  11. Horrifically sad. Whole life ahead and from reports his injuries were sustained from a collision with a pitch-side wall, so very preventable. Rest in peace young'un. 😞
  12. Points are fair and valid and typically I'd agree. However, Pope has started really well this year and he's contributing to the many clean sheets. His passing has been competent so far, a stark contrast to last season where it almost seemed like he was regressing. I imagine having a genuine replacement and fellow English NT keeper in the wings has lit a fire under his arse. If mistakes start creeping in, Ramsdale will be in and would expect he'd manage to keep the role.

In truth he's played about 2 and a bit games: 20m v Bradford 30m vs Barca 60m v Wolves 80m v Bournemouth I'm not sure we can draw any sweeping conclusions about how he'll fit into the team or his capabilities and limitations. He looks good, at least to me. Very comfortable on the ball, doesn't seem overawed by the PL or physically out of place. Excited to see him show us what he can do and how he'll grow.

He's played striker 105 times compared to shadow striker / off the striker 36 times and 19 games as AM (#10).

He looked good for a 20 minute showing, I like that. Pretty instant impact in terms of getting the ball on the edge of the box and shuttling it about. Deft touch on him, basically a forwards dream to play with, seems like as he'll weave that frontline together. Bradford are in the third-tier, just a heads-up.

Ehhh early days, and can't say I saw him have many goal scoring opportunities in two and a half games of play. Lessee what's to come

    Nick Woltemade

That's not exactly damning. You can see why Bayern wanted him if it fits the mold.

Cunt is smooth as fuck. Not sure there's enough to say he's not a striker just because he's good at passing. Will see with time.

    Sven Botman

Bradford game not finished but looks like another clean sheet and 90 mins in his legs and been steady as can be, same as vs Bournemouth. Good shit. Edit: My bad
  20. Better on the left. Feel like he's trying to hard at times when it comes to actions around the box and just fucks it.
  21. Willock on for Joe please. If he can't be trusted 2-0 vs Bradford then he's a write-off.
  22. Good run out for Hall / Krafty for a bit of sharpness. Nice to see us looking so comfortable in control on the whole. Feel like in recent past we've played to our opponents level and scrape by against lower opposition but this has been a proper chill watch.
  23. Proper warm and fuzzy feeling seeing the transition screen swipes for Carabao of Bruno and co hoisting the cup.
  24. Literally came to post the same thing. Clearly the deepest midfielder and doing a good job recycling and keeping things tidy.
