The £20-35m bracket are the ones that are likely mid-table players who may in 2-3 years become £60-80m, but don't really help us where we are now as a club whose next stage is to break the top 3 and show to Isak, Tonali, etc that they don't have to go to Real Madrid, Arsenal, etc to challenge for titles. That's why these go to the likes of Brighton and Bournemouth. The Guehis and Mbuemos are pretty much bang in that sweet spot of improving our team, being affordable and helping us into the top 3.

Trafford probably isn't that level yet but I don't think the drop off to Pope is significant enough that you wouldn't go with Trafford so he can push to that top level. Pope won't get there.
