Have you seen the video of Denmark in the Euro 92 Final?
-
This was a long way offside in the current guise. The equivalent under a daylight law would be him clear of Tiote by about half a metre.
-
Passing back to the keeper to pick up was widely accepted for 100 years.
-
How's it worse than that last night? It was the correct decision under the offside law, but that shouldn't even come into question about being an offside.
-
Really like Solanke. Would have him here, good age and could help us play how Howe likes us to play.
-
But for decades, daylight was the interpretation/guideline the officials would use without the use of technology even if it wasn't the official law. I don't see why there'd be much issue just switching the law to word it like that.
-
Watching the game and as a player, you'd be far more accepting of having a goal disallowed if you were marginally off in the Aguero instance for example, than Willock last night surely? That's with VAR or without VAR.
-
Up until about 10-15 years ago it used to be an art beating or setting the offside trap. It's just luck now. You were happy if the attacker was given the advantage as long as there wasn't clear daylight, even if technically it wasn't the law. Just adjust the law to have clear daylight and you save a lot of grey areas or quizzical offsides.

They should go all out for Iraola. Canny parallels with Pochettino.
-
Assuming even in a VAR world, it wouldn't be a faff to spot ones like this with the Wenger Law? One line from Tiote's closest point to goal. If all of Aguero is beyond that line, offside. Any part of Tiote closer to goal than Aguero. Goal. Without VAR, you're also more likely to accept that decision even if he was fractionally on, over ones like last night.

Could be 40+ points needed the way it's going. 17th up all on at least 1 point per game and West Ham not far off, but picking up results recently. (Bumped as a general discussion on the relegation fight, not because I think we're involved)

Ramsey & Elanga at least now starting to look serviceable players the last few weeks. If even just one of Wissa & Woltemade can start performing then it'd be something at least.
-
He'll manage 3 of Inter, Milan, Juve, Roma & Lazio in the next 6 years.

If either of the Willock or City goals are awarded I doubt the opposition would complain. My point has always been what's the point in a law where it's literal guesswork? Those are impossible for the linesmen to call, so just make it onside. Daylight you'll still have the lines and tight calls, but you can accept a call going against you more if it's half an inch of the back of his foot in it, you can accept he was trying to gain an "unfair" advantage there. That last night, though. Haaland last month. Nah. We had the backpass law changed after 100+ years in the early 90s and it's one of the best law changes the game has had. Offside should be next. .

It was about a centimetre of his heel?
-
And while not being the law, "daylight" was often used as the guideline. Change the law to daylight on paper then we might get away with it. I don't see the point in a law where Willock last night or Haaland up here last month can be considered as offside. It's literally guesswork and no unfair advantage being gained.

Set Pieces (Free Kicks, Long Throws, Corners)

We're starting to look very dangerous from these again. -
Think the predicament Spurs are in shows what a top manager he is. This could have easily been us 2 seasons ago in the league with the players out, yet he got us to fecking 7th. Honestly think that achievement is on par with finishing 4th & 5th.
-
If he had Barnes finishing he'd be a £100m striker. I think he can play the role, just not sure on his finishing.
-
1-1 draw. Think Hebburn will take it from here?
-
They just keep plugging away. Seem to have the recruitment spot on P8 W6 D1 L1 against the Old Firm & Hibs this season is phenomenal. They can probably afford to lose at Rangers at the weekend now and still look strong going into the split at 33 games.
