  1. We have money, we had money for Pedro, Ektike etc. Anyway, the floor must be no less than 150, guaranteed money.
  2. Prem Cartel can all buy him and PSG. Have to hope he wants some sun. Liverpool would be disgusting, then and Chelsea just sitting around smacking us with bundles of money. Imagine we had hope last week Ektike and Isak (didnt understand buying Ektike but still) now we understand. The business of football has just destroyed it. I’m glad we won a cup while we were underdogs, it won’t feel the same if we become the cartel.
  3. He has murals? We shouldn’t have murals of lads who use this club as a stepping stone. Anyone giving him death threats is deranged, there are deranged people around. Don’t like it out of him though, going on strike. Thought Gordon was bad enough with his body language last year. For some reason I didn’t think we’d have players striking, but there’s been a cloud over us since the Staveley drama, could tell something was totally different. Felt like a club then, feels corporate, players and manager are workers for a company that doesn’t care. Shameful.
  4. What do you think is happening? Its an NUFC forum, what are people going to talk about besides what's going at the club. Star striker linked with move away and who has apparently been told or feels he deserves a new contract is not going on our pre-season tour. Thats whats happening. Its enough to talk about. And what do you mean find out what's happening, like the club is going to come out and give a statement. 'He didn't go on tour because he wants a new contract or a move to a club that's signed some players this window.' He didn't play against Celtic, because of transfer speculation, according to Eddie. Now he's skipping the entire pre-season tour. It would appear his priority is no longer the team. Whether he stays or goes, I don't really care, more concerned with what it says about the lack of progression, which was obvious to everyone. Now some players are deciding that they've outgrown us, and we won't be able to catch up. Its a very bad look. Hopefully it causes someone in ownership to do something, because it hasn't been good enough for a couple seasons now.
  5. Ektike is a mercenary he's gone when the next club come calling
  6. and a center back and a couple good u-21's who could be impact subs later in the season, nah think thats what we should have been aiming for, if we realistically want to be in with a good chance of making CL again this season.
  7. I wouldn't necessarily sell him, especially at a low in his value, but we need way better off the bench than him. Badly need someone like him, with better availability and technique.
  8. But thats exactly why the club should have a scouting system in place where we have enough info, a big enough list that we can improve the squad each year. Last year we apparently had 60 for Guehi. Look around the premiership and see how much we could have improved the team for 40mil, which is what Guehi is worth. Could have had Delap, Hjuisen and Milkenkovic for 45 million. We definitely could have had 2 of the 3. Hjuisen leaves this year for Madrid, so what, we get 50mil. Christ we wanted him for 50 this year. Total indictment that we are nowhere near the level of competence required. I'm not frustrated we can't sign the tiny pool of top end talent that goes to the cartel auction. We are shopping a tier below for players at a high point in their valuation.
  9. Complete change in attitude, application and method is needed, completely rudderless from the top. Hopefully something is happening, but realistically, I'm hoping sometime in the next 2 years these lads either decide to do this properly or sell, hopefully Stavely can get back in, seems like she was the only thing keeping things glued together. What a waste, the team against all odds goes from relegation certainties to twice qualifying for CL, and in that time the execs and recruitment have been among the worst in the league. That 25 man list is a joke, and we've known this for many seasons. 60 mil for Guehi last year with the massive holes in the squad. Ridiculous.
  10. I'd love to have kept Merino, first few times he played I had hope for the first time in ages. Then he got benched when Shelveys suspension was up. My only real, big gripe with Rafa, huge, huge mistake there. That was the best midfielder we'd had in years
  11. I talk to Isak everyday, he's disgusted he has to go to Sunderland this year, worried it might as bad as the filth on merseyside ja. Now, give the phone back to the elderly woman who unfortunately walked past the bin you call home.
  12. We do need title winning players. How many can we afford if we buy Elanga's, who are not world class (no offence to the lad) for 55mil, instead of identifying them when they were 15-25 million. Firstly our bench is championship level. 3 40 year old League 2 goalies in the squad. 5 useless outfield players and Joe Willock who is either injured or a hinderance. I hope to Christ there is a lab of chinese maths prodigies and football autistics in the bowels of St. James with a secret plan which involves making us look totally inept on the executive level and then showing up August 1st with a squad at least able to give it a shot to have a good CL campaign and qualify for it again, and you'd hope, in the process, massively increase the value and utility of the players we've signed. Totally inept, the players and coaching have put us ahead of schedule against all odds and executive level can't do the easy part. Christ just load up Football manager and sign players that way at this stage, far mroe competent than what seems to be the case.
  13. Simply put, the clubs with effective recruitment strategies have lists of players, that they may not need right now but to keep an eye on. For players to sign in the upcoming window, they have an idea whether he interests other clubs. Mbuemo, and Ekitite were non starters. We should have had an idea whether Chelsea might bid for JP and look elsewhere, not move on to Ektitike who always rejects us for the bigger money/surer bet. Forest signed Jair Cunha at CB. Lads massive, but agile and not slow, quicker than our CB's anyway, can't say I've seen loads, but what I have seen, he's got intelligence, positional awareness, aggression (possibly overaggressive, would need to be assessed), he's a winner. Forest fought no1 for his signature. Igor Jesus seems a risk, versatile, but technique isn't great, and holds onto the ball too much for the premiership. But, given good coaching and a system, coould turn out to be a useful signing. My question is how has our scouting department changed since the takeover? How many scouts do we have attending the Club World Cup, looking at the south American prospects, how many between the Dutch, Portuguese, Belgian, French, German Leagues and U-21 leagues? How many top players have Wolves had in their team simply because they are well connected with Portuguese teams? We are not playing smart off the pitch at all, and to catch up we need to be finishing top 4 in that department before we'll ever cement top 4 on the field.
  14. Good God. I was wondering what the hell was going on just having all these unusable goalies, but we're actually registering them? Mental. That is a shocking 25. Nowhere near good enough if the league is slightly better this year. Even if it was the same quality, which won't be, we've got Champions League. Executive mismanagement has really shagged us here. Instead of youth that could break thru or at least step in, we've got 5/25 goalies, none of whom would get picked for a 'big 6' club, then another 6 players who wouldn't get anywhere near playing for a top 10 club, Willock because he'd never be fit. Ridiculous neglect.
  15. haha, alright i've changed my mind lets get him
  16. Weaknesses, holding onto the ball and passing. That's the main thing we need to do better in.

    Yoane Wissa

Can he actually play wide, effectively? Left or right?
  18. But we aren’t looking to sell the way Brighton are. We need top level players, but we are way behind the number that cartel clubs own. We can’t catch up by buying them. We don’t have the revenue or the wages to offer. Aside from that, our squad is not that good. All of these teams have players who would greatly improve our squad. Aside from 11-12 players, we are very average. Mitchell was 100% correct with regards our transfer policy, at least going forward. He never should have said what he said or acted the way he did. But for us to catch up, we need to win in value recruiting as well as on the field.
  19. Thats a decent signing, can step in for Bruno, if we’re in control but unable to score he can come in for Joelinton. I’d rather have some pace with technique added to midfield some directness to go with technique, but still a good addition
  20. A CEO like Staveley, with the priority being negotiating between Eddie and an massively broadened Scouting/Recruitment division. Howe and Mitchell both had good points in what they said. Why Mitchell would say it the way he did is beyond me. But the lack of development in finding undervalued players able to improve the team is the reason we look like going into a second CL season in 3 years with exactly the same problems as the first time. The first time there were legitimate reasons. This time, we knew, good chance a lot of players take bigger money at more established clubs. At least have a long list of players from all over and assess who can come in, and these should have been brought in last season, instead of chasing Guehi. 50-60 million? How about 10mil for Hjuisen, or 16mil for Milenkovic who was guaranteed to improve our team.
  21. The explanation makes no sense. The top table transfer shortlist is always made up of at least 30% Brighton, Villa, Forest, Brentford, Bournemouth value buys that prove themselves worthy of top teams within the year or 2 max. We don't have access to the coveted players, that was always the hardest step. Going from big achievements to big turnover, wages, transfer fees. Thats why we had to build the best scouting and recruitment system 3 years ago. We tried all summer to buy Guehi for 50-60 mil while pleading poverty. Forest and Bournemouth signed signed nearly/better defenders for fractions. Its mental. We only get to the top by scouting. Only way. As if some French lad is going to turn down guaranteed CL, league title challenges and double the money because he knows Newcastle in his heart. Watch, Brighton, Forest, Bournemouth, they'll have signed players good enough to improve our team significantly. The players exist. Everywhere. Takes some time, thats where we're at.
  22. Really hope we're eyeing 3 young, undervalued players to give us options.. a Minteh type, a Baturina type, then another midfielder or a mouldable center back...close to ready. Well possible to improve the floor of the squad and massively raise its ceiling by next year, probably by the second half of this year. The midfield currently is worrying. Even when fit, it doesn't work in every game, sometimes we need someone in for Joe with better attacking qualities. Especially now we have Elanga, we can cut teams open, Joe's passing wouldn't be good enough for those games. What do people think about the Gallagher links? Certainly has some decent passing, but more of an all rounder, can fill in for any of the 3 to an extent. If Bruno was injured we'd want a quality player there. Feel like a young lad with belief in his ability will do well regardless of age, because he's got such great lads round him.
  23. I'd be excited after a while to digest it. Moreso than Elanga. Think Kudus has more upside. But from everything I've seen, and at first watch I was disgusted we didn't sign him from Ajax, he does not seem a reliable character, nor a good one. Think our dressing room could handle it, think Eddie puts a lot of emphasis on culture and a way of representing Newcastle. He is a great player on his day. Its still a spursy signing. I don't think it has as good a chance of working out there as it would have here. People can have a bias and put it to the side for a minute.
  24. 15mil to Porto... obviously there's a worry about his commitment...was it worth a shot, great player.
