does anyone know when we will actually get to see joey barton play due to injury and crime? and likewise, emre (but not on the crime front). i heard emre was going to be on the bench today. i know barton has a metatarsal injury- i heard someone say he will only miss 4 games- meaning he will be back very soon? thats if he doesnt get banged up? good to see given on the bench as well.

*sarcastic pessimism.

I'd probably go with your estimation. Back end of October probably. There was a link on a while back, showing how with broken metatarsals - every single English player that's got one, their actual return date has been double their predicted return date.

Barton has an appiontment with his specialist this week in which he will most likely get the go ahead to begin light training. So I think Late September/Early October is more realistic than Late October.

they said 6 to 8 weeks for barton!!!! after today though, we desperately need one of them i think! what about duff? might be a bit stupid, but maybe there should be a kinda sticky thing saying whos injured and for how long- we seem to get so many i lose count!!

Duff has no return date yet but it is expected to be around Mid-November.

I had read somewhere that we weren't expected to get Duff back until January. Mid-November sounds a lot better to me. But we know from Allardyce's track record, that he's not going to rush anyone back in. So if it is mid-November, I don't reckon he'll start for us until mid-December.

I do agree that there should be an injury list with expected return dates somewhere. Preferably on the official site.

Think they are hoping Joey Barton to be back for the Derby game(the game against Derby and not the game against the mackems), however Warren Barton has not had his contract renewed  :coolsmiley:

  • 2 weeks later...

Havent heard anything about this recently, anyone heard any updates. Its useful that we've got the international break at the moment.

What are the odds he'll be in the squad by the visit of West Ham on the 23rd? Be good to have him atleast on the bench for that game. Just curious as I haven;t heard much about the injury and can't remember the exact date he got injured. Think the prognosis was roughly six weeks.

Anyone got any info on this?

Since Joey Barton has left I have taken over the choice of music in the dressing room too. He was into his indie music and it used to do my head in, you need some R'n'B in there!

Listening to indie music before the game doesn't really psyche you up - you need something with a bit more beat to get you going so we will see what happens with that this season.

Apart from his music, I was sorry to see Joey leave the club for Newcastle in the summer.

You cannot take away from him what he did for the club - last season he was our top scorer from midfield and he got lots of assists too.

You could not say a bad word about him on the pitch, it is just off the pitch that he has had problems. He gets a lot of stick about it in the press but if you sit down and speak to him he is a really nice guy.

What a twat, just what every player needs a bit of half arsed gangster rap.

How the fuck someone couldn't be pumped up by "indie" music is complete trash.

I bet he's glad psycho is gone as well because he would slapped him down then stuck his ipod up his arse and made him listen to the Clash turned up to 11!

Richards will end up hangin' with da hood - Dyer, Bumble and (p)Jenas, really gangster like!

Probably half the reason the toon have improved not having to listen to Dyer's and bumble's tunes before a game.

I don't think we'll see Barton playing till a long time after that. He will be fully fit by then but will be no where near match fit as he'll not have had much pre season. He'll probably make the bench and get the odd run out but I don't think we'll see him fully till late November early December. Big Sam is not Roeder he won't get risked or rushed back.
