PM
Rubbish 2nd half cost us dear. Now we need a favour from Israel next month. Or a Macedonian miracle.

Dokko
Just curious, is it still possible to qualify by beating Croatia or does it need help? We need Russia to drop point in their last two games, if not it doesn't matter if we beat Croatia or not.
Guest toonlass
Needs help. Russia will qualify if they win their last two.

Dr Spectrum
Robinson, Cole, Owen, all very poor I think. The latter two must have touched the ball about five times between them all game. Another poor effort from Blobbo, but he shouldn't have been there, McClaren made his bed by sticking with him.
midds
Just waiting for McMilkman to come out and blame the pitch for losing. The pitch had fuck all to do with any of the goals. Robinson was badly at fault for their second. It either gets caught and gathered or pushed round the post - NOT palmed out to the onrushing striker to prod in. Rank keeping. Keefaz
Tbh, it was a typically shit England 2nd-half performance where we try in desperation to hold on to a slim lead by defending deep and failing abjectly.

The College Dropout
I blame the fact we can't pass for f****** toffee. Aye, didn't string together any decent passes. Owen didn't have a sniff of goal all game and looked injured towards the end. Owen was forever "working" the channels. He should be in the middle at all time, goodness knows he can't run anymore. The College Dropout
How s**** was that from Gerrard. Gerrard was very poor today. Didn't look faintly bothered. For L'Pool he's rushing around like's superman or something, he looked lethargic tonight & his and all the other lads head dropped as soon as the penalty was given. No fighting spirit. Russia where first to every ball and looked stronger and faster than our lads.

You can blame a few people for the goal, but the truth is we were defending desperately for 40 minutes.

toptoon
Gerrard was particularly s****, could have won us the game with that chance and didn't do anything good of note. I was pro Gerrard over Lampard but now thinking about it would go with Lampard against Croatia. Bad team display. Mcclaren out! was never a penalty either but Russia deserved something out the game at least. Hope rests on Israel getting a draw/win. But it shoulden't have had to come to that. Rank keeping. agree, call it sour grapes if you like but I've always said that Jimmy Montgomery should have done this when he made his "wonder save" in the 1973 Cup Final. Simple fact is, the first save was poor and if Lorimer had scored from the rebound, as he should have done, JG would have rightly slaughtered. Ah, well. Don't like the 2 cockneys in the studio but one of them said football is decided on such knife edge type incidents. Quite true. Great anticipation by the Russian though, he wanted that really badly, I like that sort of thing in players.
