Mr. Snrub
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article360701.ece PAUL KEMSLEY is ready to launch a bid for Tottenham with Newcastle chairman Mike Ashley. Multi-millionaire property developer Kemsley quit as Spurs vice-chairman this week after being blamed for the Juande Ramos fiasco. Old friends Ashley and Kemsley are currently working together on a project to build a casino in Las Vegas. And while billionaire Ashley bought a controlling interest in Toon in June, he is a lifelong Tottenham fan.

Mr. Snrub
Yep, bought 100% for £130m iirc.

You're not wrong, but the Sun isn't wrong either. MA bought a controlling interest in June then acquired enough extras to compulsorily purchase the rest. 100% cost £133m iirc. Plus he paid off £80m in debt, and paid a bit more on transfer fees. He's in for the long haul, and Mort said so the last time this story came out, so don't get your hopes up. A lot of journalists seem to be Spurs fans, and are clearly jeaslous of what we've got, and clearly want to unsettle a perceived rival prior to the NUFC vs Spurs game. Disco
Even he leaves at least we are now more or less debt free therefore a vert attractive poposition to a different potential investor. Can't see it happening though. Can't imagine MA is bored of us that quickly and he isn't likely to make a profit if he sells up.
Guest Bramble OG
the papers are getting boring - Owen get out Clause - club say reports untrue, Ashley to sell club - club say reports unture - repeat when papers are low on news

As I said in the Spurs pre-match thread, I think the likelihood of it happening is just about nil, and I'm very comfortable with that. I would be deflated, not elated, if the rumours proved to be true, I'd put Kemsley very much in the Freddie Shepherd mould, which is hardly any recommendation! He's also one of the regular 'interviewers from hell' in the penultimate episode of each series of The Apprentice. As most of the national journos' papers are based in London, it's not surprising that the majority support London teams. The Mail is traditionally the Spurs paper, most of the reporters on the Sun support the other lot up the Seven Sisters.
Skirge
Th story coming out before the Spurs game could unsettle them more than us but he would be allowed to buy them , not before he sold the Toon anyway. Its just more made up bollocks from a bollocks newspaper. I am just waiting for a statement from Mort on the official ste rubbishing the story, they have been pretty quick to respond to other shite in the media. Kitman
Poor reporting from a poor newspaper. If only the paper was more absorbent, it might be useful for toilet paper. As it is, it's good for nothing.
madras
the press don't hate NUFC it's just that they know we have more fucking nugget fans than anyone else who'll help whip any rubbish into a frenzy. unfortunate but true.

Colos Short and Curlies
I wonder if the ratio of 'negative' toon stories v 'positive' toon stories increases in the weeks leading up to a game against one of the larger London clubs or ManU? It does seemt to be that these stories come out at convenient times!
Skirge
So easy for a story to spiral out of control, look at all these now.. Ashley set to sell up at the Toon - report http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/Ashley-set-to-sell-up.3395203.jp Kemsley linked with Toon supremo for Spurs takeover bid http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=488468&in_page_id=1779 Anyone watching SSN, have they started running with this shite too? Guest toonlass
I am amazed that people still read the sun. Its not even good enough to be put in the recycling bin, imho. The sun also claimed that we were "definitely" going to sign David Beckham, and printed photos of Fat Fred in London. Nowt happened then either. Its all crud.
