Kev
Somehow hes excellent at home and he got motm v spurs...but away from home hes one of the worst players on the pitch? with him being a dm should it not be the other way around? if he keeps going the way he is away from home it wouldnt suprise me if he got dropped because he (and barton) yesterday hardly broke down any play and created nothing all afternoon should he start every match? or faye/rozehnal/geremi to play as the dm away from home
James
Butt comes from a play to win background, and it must be a big shock to him to play away from home and finding his team playing not to lose.

You're putting his poor peformances down to that?
La Parka
I think its more down to the fact away is much more hard work. Be tempted to stick Roz or Faye in.

Be tempted to stick Roz or Faye in. i think it's down to the fact we never mark in midfield,so when we play away the home teams commits more men forward leaving him to do more work (it's called "the gary speed scenario")

Liam Liam Liam O
Butt comes from a play to win background, and it must be a big shock to him to play away from home and finding his team playing not to lose. You're saying he's not very adaptable then and can only play one sort of game? Or that he's only a good defensive midfielder when there's not much defending to do? And I think the same applies to several other players in our squad. Which is why we'll be shit away from home if we play to defend draws.
captainhaircut
The reason he's useless away is because he's incapable of passing the ball. Its alright at home when teams will let us have plenty of ball, but away from home we need to keep the ball and be efficient with it. Geremi and Barton should be our midfield away from home imo. midds
He was superb on the 22nd but dogshit on the 27th? I don't get it. He obviously turned into a bad player in 6 days. He'll never be good again...

He plays better when we DON'T have the ball tbh. That's his job.
jack j
he play's in the easiest position on the park and he offers one thing we need 2 dimensional midfielders in the middle if we are going to play 2 in the centre if we play 3 in the middle then we can afford to play him similar to chelsea don't play makele when they play a 4-4-2 but they do if they play 4-3-
Guest RodrigoPalacio
It's obvious where the problem lies. You don't suddenly become shite, then amazing, shite, then amazing etc. He's obviously being told to do the wrong things by his manager in certain games. Why the hell he needs to be told to do anything different in away games is beyond me.

Why the hell he needs to be told to do anything different in away games is beyond me. it's not his game that gets changed it's the games of others that affect what he can do in his game, just like those who slagged off batty for only passing sideways or backwards, when you only have ian rush up front being marked by 3 defenders you have to pass that side or back to retain possession

Guest prestonj1989
I think he would struggle to get a place on the bench when we have a full strength squad. Good squad player though and can help the youngsters.
