Bad Mongo
No, he had a shot on target for us as well.
Guest sondre
What the fuck was Hughton thinkin, playing him and Butt in the center?!?!?!? Smith can't tackle, can't pass, can't do shit except make free kicks!! He was lucky not to get a second yellow as well. PLEASE GET RID!!
Slugsy
He's come back even worse than before - may not be fit but that's even more reason not to play him.
Rich
He reminds me of me when I play centre midfield in 11-a-side. Huff and puff, put a few tackles in, get amongst them, with the very occasional bit of football thrown in. Not good enough, basically.
Yorkie
We KNOW he has the attacking instincts from his Leeds days. I just dont understand how a player's entire footballing mould just changes like that. He needs to apply himself better and he must be played up front, otherwise he's absolutely of no fucking use to us. His record at Leeds was similar to Shola's. He is, and always has been (other than a brief purple patch when he came onto the scene), utter dross imo. Can remember him playing really well, and scoring a really beautiful finish in that 7-0 win against Roma, or whatever it was. His last competitive goal... I know. My point was that he did have a decent bit of talent before he came here.
Ember
He might be alright if he wasn't played in CM.
Ronaldo
He might be alright if he wasn't played in CM. clearly wouldn't be anything approaching alright
TRon
He might be alright if he wasn't played in CM. I'd rather see him play CM than right wing or up front like he did for Allardyce. Just don't play him in the same team as Duff, one pillock making reckless challenges and giving the ball away is enough.

ChrisMcQuillan
The doom and gloom x10 comment about Smith costing the best part of £15m. It's a statement of fact. Doom and gloom would be saying that Smith is the AntiChrist. If stating a fact like, Alan Smith signed for us, is doom mongering then it's clearly a reflection on just how depressing a character you feel he's been for us. Which means, subconsciously, you must share Colocho's opinion.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
I don't share the opinion that we spent the best part of £15m on Smith. Also think the despair over the level of his ability is overstated on this forum too.

Also think the despair over the level of his ability is overstated on this forum too. 4 years on what, £50,000 a week? That's £10.4m. Transfer fee of £6m. That's a total of £16.4m on wages and transfer alone, leaving aside any bonuses etc. So, unless I'm missing something, that's not really an opinion, but that's fact. And perhaps the despair is overrated, but the lad's been a disappointment on the whole.

It was disclosed at the time. If we're taking these widely-distributed figures as nothing more than 'doom mongering', then Michael Owen joined us for a packet of hobnobs and played for a free horse every week.
