Has this window proved that we need this guy in a role at the club, where he can sell the vision of what Newcastle United can be to prospective signings particularly from abroad? If we are being easily beaten to signings from a Man Utd team at their lowest ebb in living memory, we need some spark from somewhere

Ffs man

He has been out of football nye on 20 years

I'm purely talking about him selling Newcastle to prospective signings, not taking training FFS

its pretty clear whoever is tasked with that job currently, Is making a fucking royal pigs ear of it!

Should be a club ambassador or something but should be nowhere near selling the vision for new signings

I bet anyone under 21 particularly from abroad would have no idea who he was.

I doubt they know who the fuck Jason Wilcox is either, but he clearly presented a better pitch to Sesko than Andy Howe

He showed Modric and his team around the training ground and he still chose Spurs. Only so much he can do. That was over 10 years after his magic spell and over 15 years ago from now.

He didn’t though did he? Wise and Veterre over ruled him as they thought Modric was too short and weak for the PL

That’s not true. One of the biggest stories of the Ashley era and part of the reason Keegan walked. How can fans get this wrong? Modric was coming Ashley and co fucked Keegan over

So this window is just the mildest inconvenience now then is it?

Keegan hasn’t been involved in football since 2008, man. Suggesting a serious role at the club for him is just lunacy.

I think temporarily being part of negotiations wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. When keegan talks about Football people listen. We’ve no one else

I can't think of any negotiating skills Keegan has to offer for any potential signings. He might be able to romanticise about the club but most footballers these days probably won't even know who Keegan is.

No shit genius. By all accounts we want the guy from Forest who isn’t going to leave mid window and if he did he’d be on gardening leave that’s why I used that special word ‘temporary’

Yeah he only won the Ballon d'Or twice and played for a highly successful Liverpool team.

Yeah I'm fully aware of that. Oba Martins admitted he had no idea who Keegan was in 2008 when we appointed him as manager.

Luke Shaw told Lampard he had no idea who Tony Adams was.

That’s your standard. Oba Martins. Regardless of who Keegan is he knows a shit load more of how football deals with than Jamie Rueben.

He's 74 years old and he's been away from football basically since most of the players we'd be interested in signing were in diapers.

Let the man enjoy his well-deserved retirement.

FWIW I agree, he said in his book he was absolutely finished with football and I’m not suggesting he come back I was just agreeing it wouldn’t be the worst idea coz we’ve pretty much nobody else

Ironic under Ashley we were begging for Keegan to be giving the gates to the kingdom to shape the club. Obviously we know Ashley took that the opposite way and where that led...

Now we have the reverse, where Howe seems to have been given free reign. Maybe the grass wasn't greener in this case. I guess we shall see.

You reckon João Pedro for example knows who Keegan is? He may very well do but doubt he'd give a toss what he has to say about Newcastle when Chelsea and London are calling.

It was also a different era where it was still just about possible for the same person to be in charge of both coaching and transfers.

Both jobs have become infinitely more complex now. Nobody should have to do both.

Maybe not but that wasn’t really my point anyway my point was he knows football inside out. He’d been away from football for years and persuaded modric to sign for us before he got fucked over.

Take Trafford for example I’ve absolutely no doubt Keegan gets that done early before Man City decided they needed a keeper

it’s all hypotheticals I just said it couldn’t be worse than what we are doing now. Not that deep really

He knows football as it existed twenty years ago (more like thirty, really) inside out. He's not qualified to be working for a professional club in 2025 in anything other than an informal ambassador capacity.

I don't think Joao Pedro knows who Kevin Keegan is, but I'm also not sure Kevin Keegan knows who Joao Pedro is.
