Shearer should be considered, and Round should keep his place. As the others, especially Terry Mc,they should start to look for another job,and I hope that speaker thingy will go extinct once and for all.

I would go for Keegan at the top with Coleman and Shearer as Assistants, with Steve Round involved somewhere. Don't know about Terry Mc, nobody ever complained when Keegan was here first time round, they trust each other, maybe a role for him but down the pecking order!

Tea lady?

Not sure if Coleman would want to be a number 2

I don't know either but I would certainly take it. From Colemans point of view it's more experience as well.

As i said in another thread, if Shearer is willing to, I think we should bring him in to head up the academy. Imagine the inspiration for those kids if they turned up to train and it was Shearer in charge of teaching them the ropes. Keegan was never heavily involved in youth team (in fact quite the opposite) so it would be a great opening for Shearer and he could learn the ropes there.

Also what's Robson's title these days? Does he have one? Seem to recall he was appointed as Life President, a kind of ambasadorial role. It's gotta be the dream like, in a couple of years, Robson (hopefully he'll pull through his latest illness) as President, Keegan manager, Shearer youth / no.2 and Taylor as captain...

Would disagree with that. We already have a good Academy Head with good experience and pedigree.

well his agent came out and Coleman  wont be a no 2.

Wonder if Rob Lee or Beardo might be back in some coaching capacity

I'd love to see Coleman come in as Keegans #2.  He has recent experience of the EPL, has managed players and done well with a limited team.  Would be an excellent signing for Keegan.

As for Shearer in the Academy - no way. He only grudgingly sees himself as a #2, no way would be he exiled into the Academy. He is first team or nothing.  Now maybe he could come in as first team forward coach with Coleman as first team defensive coach.  Now that I could really get behind.

To understand the return of Kevin Keegan to St James' Park, you have to understand the Newcastle fans and the Geordie nation. They are fiercely loyal and proud of their club.

But they also want other people to love Newcastle as well and adopt them as their second team. They want the boys in black and white to play great football and to entertain in front of a 52,000 home crowd. They don't want ugly 1-0 wins.

It is a real north-east mentality that you have to experience to fully comprehend. People work hard each week and when they spend their money to go to football, they want to enjoy what they watch. And that is what they will get with Kevin Keegan.

He has had an unbelievable reaction. The great thing about Kevin is he wants his team passing and moving all the time. I can imagine his first eight-a-side training matches this week - he will be drilling his players to play the old Liverpool way.

I think you will see an immediate change in the way they play from midfield to front. But at the back it is not about style or tactics, it is about personnel. He needs a new centre-back to play alongside Steven Taylor and a new left-back. In fact, he probably needs half a dozen new players.

By his own admission, he is not the best tactically but he will surround himself with people who are. Like Jurgen Klinsmann with Germany, he will bring in specialists to complement his skills.

He will have Terry McDermott as his trusted righthand man and an experienced top-level coach.

And if Alan Shearer is to be part of the new set-up, everyone should be totally honest from the start that the intention is for him to take over one day. Then you hope to manage a smooth transition in the years ahead. What he is really good at is getting players to play for him and getting them believing in themselves. And he has total respect from the players.

I remember from when I worked with him at Newcastle during his first spell, if he ever arrived after the start of training, the level of intensity would change immediately. He has this aura around him and players want to play for him and impress him. He is also great at putting his arm round players and making them feel like they are the best in the world.

He would challenge players in a nice way. He would very rarely lose his temper. Dropped players would go see him seeking a showdown and come out thanking him for giving them the time of day.

His man-management is good and when people are right to say football has moved on over the past 11 years, his skills are even more relevant now in dealing with a dressing room full of multi-millionaires.

If anyone can get Mark Viduka playing, it is him. That is why I don't think there will be a problem with Michael Owen. The England striker had his say about Keegan in his book and now they can move on.

The manager will want him fit and scoring goals. If Owen is not prepared to shake hands and make a fresh start, he will be moved on. Keegan can do that. I didn't know him before and we haven't kept in touch since. He can cut people out - he fell out with Derek Fazackerley and then worked with him again. I fell out with him at Euro 2000 after I criticised him after the England-Portugal game when England were 2-0 up and lost 3-2.

He let it be known he was not happy but that isn't a big deal. It happens in football. But he is very clever and would have had talks with Chris Mort and Mike Ashley, and established where they are looking to go - and how much he will have to spend to get there.

Within 18 months, I think the club will be looking to get into the top six and into Europe. It is as if the whole of football has stopped to watch what has been happening at Newcastle this week. And I don't see that changing soon.
