I am an eternal optimist when it comes to the Toon and not even I can fathom why we would sign Sieberski. Due to our lack of activity recently I guessed we had little funds to play with but didn't think it was that bad. Roeder and Sierberski will get my support but I am not expecting too much to be honest. Hopefully he'll prove some sort of asset in the same way Craig Moore came through for us. There's no gaurantees with any of them. I really am baffled how you can think we're better off now than last year. We've signed an admittedly good winger who we didn't need. We were already covered in that position with N'Zogbia and as you say O'Brien. Rossi's only here for 4 months and will then **** off regardless if he's any good or not. The way we operate in the transfer market we're likely to go the whole of January at least a striker down before we get a replacement. Sibierski is gash. I wouldn't swap him for anyone! You say that Shearer did little but hold the ball up. Maybe so, but who the hell is going to hold the ball up now? Out of the players we don't have Shearers holding up the ball skill is the one we will miss the most but we will have to do without. Our midfield has improved considerably since last year with the progress of the Zog, the return of milner and Duff signing. As for the defence, i really wish we had brought in a replacment for Boumsong but that said we are no worse off without him. Whatever way you look at it, it's completely indefensible. Roeder strung us along throughout August telling us we were on the brink of signing a few players, and many believed him. The writing was on the wall when he admitted he didn't have a contingency plan for the Martins deal, there was no "list". Disgraceful, utterly disgraceful. You cannot overemphasise what a hash Roeder and Shepherd have made of this. The two of them owe the fans an explanation, because this club has just taken another step backwards, while all around us are improving their squads. We go into the season with Ramage and Taylor covering the entire defence. It won't be long before we find ourselves looking for another Ronny Johnsen. So my mate is quite correct, although he get the targets wrong, he is right in the sense that all of them are overaged and averaged players. Emre and Parker are good but not that good and I feel that they are inferior to even to the midfield duo of barry and Petrov who can contribute goals and asissts as well as playing a hard midfield game.
