Now that the dust has settled on our most recent managerial change around, I'm interested in seeing people's opinions on this matter.

Who did you vote for and why?

(PS choice of period of time is down to the age demographics on here)

Souness.

Although I hate Dalglish too... Souey's reign was just ridiculous. The saga just got more and more pathetic. Ending with the last month of us having to listen to his post match comments not being about the game but about how his family is important to him and comes first...

Have respect for all the others the others. Ok maybe not that much for Allardyce, but certainly for Gullit.

Souness.

Souness.

He said in his press conference "this is the best squad of players I've ever had to work with." He then proceeded to spaff £50m+ on improving it......only to turn in our worst league position for a decade.

He did more damage in his time here than any of us could ever have imagined. An utter, utter, utter twat.

Souness:  what did he leave the club/his successor to work with?  It's been two years, still recovering from his handiwork.

At least Allardyce brought in some promising talent for Keegan to work with (Beye, Faye, Enrique, even Barton & Viduka are fitting in well).  Who did Souness buy that has been a positive for NUFC?  Please consider that about 5 weeks ago, Souness publicly denied any responsibility for Owen's arrival at the club.  Who's left?

Allardyce didn't get anywhere near long enough whether you like him or not in which to do things his way and he did, as has been pointed out, make a few good signings.

Sounness, he inherrited a decent team and managed to make it into almost relegation-candidates in just a couple of years.

While Allardyce didn't do much right here, he was given a poor team, but he made a few good signings (especially Beye, Faye and Enrique), even though he himself didn't manage to get the best out of any of his signings.

You could argue though that it is none of Allardyce's signings that eventually rescued us from relegation, and that it took the removal of Allardyce's 'star signing' from the first XI to start getting results. In fact, Allardyce sold the two players that kept us away from the relegation scrap the season before.

Souness failed, no doubt about it, but at least he had a couple of valid excuses, and at least there were a few interspersed positive moments.

The difference being a good manager came in after Allardyce who got the best out of those players, Souness was followed by Glenn Roeder who didn't get the best out of anyone.

Who's to say how the likes of Parker, Solano, Luque etc would have done for us under Keegan's management?

Spot on. Can't believe he's had 10 times as many votes as Roeder. If Allardyce had stayed we would have ended up with a fairly functional team hovering around the top 6-10 given time. We'd become what Bolton did after 8 years.

I voted Souness FWIW.

That team finished 7th under Roeder. He was an improvement over Souness.
