brummie
It's true about the villa fan cos BBC are reporting it. s*** like that puts derby days in perspective...... Can you not read? fuck me. The BBC said there are unconfirmed reports that the victim of a road accident was a rival fan. Even if it was a Brum fan that happened to run over a Villa fan it could still have been an accident. Rumours like that are bloody dangerous. It looks a lot less coincidental if you know the name of the person killed, if you get my drift. Doug Ellis? Ha ha, very good. simonlemagnifique
bit of detail about the newcastle trouble: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7358033.stm Fans arrested after derby clashes Police made several arrests after the game Part of Newcastle city centre was sealed off after trouble flared following the Tyne and Wear derby between Newcastle Utd and Sunderland. Police said the violence involved mainly Newcastle fans, after the Magpies beat Sunderland 2-0 on Sunday. The trouble led to the closure of the city's central railway station and nearby Pink Lane, as dozens of police officers in riot gear made arrests. Eleven people were detained, mainly for drink-related offences. A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Some of those arrested were known and were taken into custody to prevent problems escalating. "Also there were a number of localised clashes between fans, but these were relatively isolated and brought quickly under control by the police, who took fair but effective action against those involved. "The vast majority of fans behaved well." More than 52,000 people attended the match at Newcastle's St James' Park ground.

Benwell Lad
Have to say the scummy charvas who were goading the macums after the match looked like they were only there because they were too young to get served in the pub. Not the fighting elite methinks. Embarrassing really. Why can't they just let them go home in peace, after all they'd had a pretty rotten day hadn't they ? BlueStar
Wouldn't it be incredibly unfortunate if someone had a copy of it from before it was taken down Don't worry, seems like people in the media certainly have copies of it - taken down or not. brummie
It said on the news this morning that it was a Villa fan who ran another Villa fan over. Strong rumours doing the rounds now that this is a piece of PR put out by the police to calm the situation. Loads of trouble and a stabbing in town last night after the news broke, tensions running very high apparently. Personally I hope it does turn out to have been another Villa fan, else things are just going to get nastier.

johnnypd
report on the itv local news was ridiculously exaggerated. just showed the police keeping sets of fans apart, then cut to picture of child walking 'SMALL children CAUGHT in the MAYHEM' a bus in traffic 'INNOCENT passersby STUCK on buses surrounded by the CHAOS', people on the SJP steps watching everything 'FANS leaving the game TRAPPED on the steps' (even tho they couldve just turned round and walked towards the strawberry). Exactly what I thought. Completely blown out of proportion if the pics they showed are anything to go by, although having said that they only showed images from outside St James' and not Central Station and Pink Lane which were closed off so it might have been worse there. Tsunami
My mate lives down South. The doors to the station were closed but he got in via the car park. He was waiting at Platform 3 with a train full of mackems on the opposite tracks going nowhere. So what happened, they let the doors open & that's how all the mackems can be seen jumping over the tracks - to get at anyone - mostly joe public, as the charva kids pissed up on pop were all locked outside. By all accounts it was not pleasant & there was a running battle, on the tracks, between mackems & police. The police operation was a joke, the mackems should have been taken away at least an hour earleir, all they were to do was to allow kids & idiots who hadn't been at the match get another 2 hours drink down them.
