James
At the start of the season Cardiff entered the FA Cup on the understanding that, should they win the thing, they would not enter the UEFA Cup. It's been that way since European competition was introduced, and of course City have not made anything approaching a fuss about it because they've never had so much as a sniff of getting anywhere near the final. However, now that they are in the final of course they stamped their feet and threatened to scweam and scweam until they're sick unless they were allowed to play with the big boys. And of course the English FA caved. Now the Bluebirds are at it again. On Saturday Darren Purse was sent off for making a sizeable hole in Andy Cole's leg that required ten stitches, and thus earned himself a three match ban, the second of which would be the FA Cup final. After the game City manager Dave Jones insisted that he would be appealing, making the hilarious claim that it was Cole's reaction, rather than the gaping wound in his calf, that got Purse sent off. The natural reaction would be to scoff and suggest that they had not a chance of winning that appeal, but not when you consider the utterly ludicrous situation that states Cardiff appeal to the Welsh, rather than the English FA. And shock of galloping shocks, the WFA have overturned the ban. What were the odds? So that's right kids. The Welsh FA have decided that a banned player can take part in the English FA Cup. It's rather like Mediawatch appealing to Setanta if we punched Jamie Redknapp in the face live on TV. Now there's a thought. The jurisdiction of the Welsh FA really needs addressing. Tisd09
This is silly..... I am not saying this as a bitter Swansea person, I am actually happy that they will get a European place if they win, but for the Welsh FA to overturn a ban of purse is daft. Surely this can't be right. UEFA didn't over turn the bans for Scholes or Keane or numerous others that have missed out on European Cup Final. Tough luck on Purse, sounds like from the challenge he deserved to miss the cup final. If Dave Jones is moaning could you imagine if the shoe was on the other foot, he'd be furious!! Shearergol
I've never understood what the Welsh FA has to do with anything to do with English competitions, or teams who play in it. If Cardiff want to play in the English league, they should be governed by the English FA. Weird.
Exiled in Texas
If Cardiff (and Swansea/Wrexham) want to play in the English league, they should be governed by the English FA. Exactly - they opted out of the Welsh League to play in the English League so they should be governed by the English FA
Guest marky555
The whole thing is a joke - the challenge on Cole was an absolute disgrace, watched it on The Championship on Sunday morning and couldnt believe Dave Jones's comments, any dignity he had has now gone. The most disappointing thing is the whole Welsh FA thing though. There needs to be more synergy between them and the English FA if anything is going to be fair. Its an absolute joke that they get to decide upon overturning cards etc. when the occurence was in the ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP. Of course they're going to overturn it if it helps them to get a little bit of glory for the Welsh. Absolute disgrace, but what is more annoying is the fact its Darren Purse, who is an absolute CUNT!!!

LoveItIfWeBeatU
Didn't the Welsh want their national anthem played before the game? The English national anthem won't be played so why would the Welsh anthem be played. The British National anthem will be played.
indi
The whole thing's ridiculous, why did the FA give up one of their European places when Uefa had already said that they'd give Cardiff a place anyway? What's the point in that?
