Thespence
WORLD Cup legend Zinedine Zidane is the sensational name in the frame to take over as boss of QPR. Rangers owner Flavio Briatore has promised a major announcement before today's final match of the season at home to West Brom - and informed whispers insist he'll name Zidane as Loftus Road boss. The French superstar has no coaching experience but he has what Italian playboy Briatore covets most of all - 24- carat glamour. At a stroke his arrival would catapult Rangers into the big time. Rangers skipper Gareth Ainsworth added to the intrigue wh e n , i n a t a n t a l i s i n g contribution to the club's website, he urged fans to arrive early today for 'the dawn of a new era.' "Sunday promises to be a day every QPR fan, old and young, remembers for the rest of their lives," he wrote. Advertisement Netting Zidane would be the managerial coup of all time but even legends like the French World Cup winner can have their heads turned by cash - and Briatore, alongside co-owners Lakshmi Mittal and Bernie Ecclestone, have oodles of it. Briatore wants Premier League football and a boss of Zidane's stature, rather than current chief Luigi De Canio, would attract the players to realise that dream. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?action=post;topic=52469.0;num_replies=0 As this board has more money than any other club board in the world it could be on, watch they unveil Sam Allardyce or Souness. Thespence
NEWCASTLE and Arsenal have checked up on Le Mans midfielder Stephane Sessegnon. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already been in contact with the French club as he faces up to losing Mathieu Flamini to either Juventus or AC Milan. Le Mans also claim to have had an approach from Newcastle on the back of the Benin international's impressive displays the African Cup of Nations. Sessegnon, 23, has made his name in France in the last two seasons as a tough defensive midfielder who scores goals. http://blogs.notw.co.uk/sport/2008/05/sess-toon-targe.html

Newcastle Fan
I can't really imagine Martins in Arsenal, looks exactly like the player Arsenal won't sign..
La Parka
Seen as though Wenger prides his signings having a good first touch there is a 0% chance of Oba going there.
Thespence
Anelka was all pace when he joined Arsenal. Adebayor & Eboue have improved a hell of lot from the raw players they were when they first joined Arsenal.
Tooj
Anelka was all pace when he joined Arsenal. Adebayor & Eboue have improved a hell of lot from the raw players they were when they first joined Arsenal. Despite being a far better all round player now, due to how he tends to play deeper, I used to love how devastating Anelka was back then.
Guest
So the same paper who I think broke the £13m minimum release fee in Martins' contract, reveal how Arsenal are going to pay £2m more than necessary to buy him. Lovely stuff.

Guest
Anelka was all pace when he joined Arsenal. Adebayor & Eboue have improved a hell of lot from the raw players they were when they first joined Arsenal. Anelka was 17-18 and came from the French League. Martins is 23 coming up to 24, has already spent several years in Italian football working alongside world-class coaches and strikers such as Crespo, Recoba, Mancini, Vieri, etc. Huge difference. Despite being a far better all round player now, due to how he tends to play deeper, I used to love how devastating Anelka was back then. Sir Les mentioned that players very rarely want to be purely strikers or target men these days. Then he went onto say Marcus Bent has all the attributes of being a really good striker if played just as striker/target man rather than drop deep or try to link play. So you dont think Wegener could improve some of the flaws in Oba's game?!? Adebayor looked very raw when he first joined but within a relatively small period of time anyone with eyes can see he has improved as player. Yes he HAD to deal with the existing English players at the club when took over but since then his overall buying of English players & handling the development of them has not been at the standard you would expect off Wegner.
