Milan signed Ally Cissokho from Porto for €15m (+1m add ons)

He only just joined them in January  for  €300.000. The Porto chairman certainly knows how to sell for a tidy profit eh

(Pepe, Carvalho, Bosingwa, Quaresma etc all went for massive amounts)

Don't forget Mourinho, Deco, Paulo Ferreira, Maniche, Costinha, Seitaridis, Postiga, Anderson.. All with huge profits.

They won the Champions League and got huge profits from that too. Still don't see them spending money much.

Makes you wonder where all that money went..?

They're dominating Portugese SuperLeague or whatever it's called and doing reasonably well in Champions League for not a giant club every year! So why should they be splashing the cash around? It's an ideal situation for the owners as they're probably making lots of money and the fans are happy I guess. That's the way we should be going for as well...buy cheap(proven youngsters from lower level foreign clubs) and sell on with a massive profit! It's not easily done for sure but it's possible

West Ham to nab Newcastle defender

Sunday 14 Jun 2009 12:27:31 by admin

West Ham are ready to launch a £4 million bid for Toon Army defender Steven Taylor.

The London born defender is looking for a move away from the North East car crash and with rumours over Matthew Upson's future at the Club, Zola would see Taylor as an ideal replacement.

The car crash bit?

Even funnier is the £4m price. More like £10m, which breaks down as £4m for Taylor the defender (which is what he's worth) and £6m for him being an "England international centreback of the future".

Christ I didn't think that would go through so quick!?!

Very good player, and another one of Porto's master-strokes.

Honestly amazes me how much money teams like Milan and Madrid waste by always buying players only once they are established elsewhere.

With the resources they have those kind of clubs should have the best scouting networks around and be able to pick up 300k gems of their own but instead are totally bloody inept. No wonder they needed to sell Kaka.

Aye its rather retarded. However there is an element of 'rich team tax'. The second you hear Madrid/Milan/Chelsea etc want one of your players, the cost of a player doubles immediately.

Just look at Gago/Higuain, not exactly unknown, but still commanding massive fees despite coming from the Argentinean league. I'm not saying they should've been 500k jobs, but they paid something like 20 million for them.

CRISIS-TORN Newcastle face a fight to hang on to Andy Carroll – with West Ham leading the chase.

The England Under-19 striker, who signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal in March, is earmarked for a key role for the relegated Magpies next season.

With Michael Owen and Mark Viduka set to leave under freedom of contract – and £10million-rated Obafemi Martins likely to be sacrificed in drastic cost-cutting measures on Tyneside, local boy Carroll, 20, is ready to leap up the strikers’ pecking order.

But the Hammers are very keen on the forward.

The club were this week the subject of a takeover by Icelandic bank Straumur.

But boss Gianfranco Zola has still been promised funds to spend this summer – and is looking to build with solid young English players.

Other clubs are also interested – and the Geordies may be forced to consider an offer of around £3m.

Meanwhile, Martins – who was signed from Inter Milan by former Toon boss Glenn Roeder three years ago – is said to be eyeing a return to Italy.

Fiorentina fancy the Nigerian, 24, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is a long-term admirer.

A move to the Emirates would depend on whether or not Emmanuel Adebayor stays with the Gunners this summer.

Aston Villa and Everton are also understood to be weighing up moves – but the £10m asking price could be a sticking point, with Martins expected to ask for a bumper salary as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if Fabregas went to Barcelona this summer. Think they'll want to make a signing that will show they don't want to allow Real Madrid to overshadow them.

Just seen quotes on SSN from Fabregas saying he's happy at Arsenal but if Guardiola wanted him then he'd love to play under him.

He never said it, apparently its all alot of shit and completely removed the quotes from its context and he repeatedly said in the interview that he is captain of Arsenal, has responsibilities and will be staying.
