Newcastle in Turmoil, says Sir Les

Recommended Posts

You didn't even f***ing want Modric the first time.

I'd never heard of him, like most people.

Shame the club failed to land him when nobody had heard of him, and then failed again when everybody had though ?

You see NE5 that's your problem, you don't play enough FM to know who these players are.

Back that up with the ability to search on youtube and you are up to the same level of knowledge as the rest of them on the forum.

Plenty of us have an interest in football outside of this country, actually.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Basically just admitted they can't do anything to win you over.

Buy him then? He's a nobody, they've lowered ambitions by getting him.

Not buy him now? He's a somebody and they've lowered ambitions by not getting him.

Exactly the fucking same as your stance on Aimar, criticise them for going for him, criticise them for not getting him.

NE5, seeing as you are here, can I ask you if you think Coloccini would be a good signing.

Just for the record.........

I've no idea. Do you ?

I'll have nothing but pessimism going into the season with the current midfield and forwards we have. Unfortunately, its the forwards that generally cost the most money.

I'm not sure what your second paragraph has to do with the question.

To answer your first one though, yes I think he'd be a good signing.

I'll ask it a different way, would you view it as a good signing?

if Keegan thinks its a good signing, and he's not being forced into buying his 2nd choice for monetary reasons.

But I won't be very optimistic going into the new season without at least one more forward player, ideally 2. Basically, if they don't get these players to go straight into the team and improve it, it will have been a s**** summer in my view. If we want to get the most from Keegan, he's got to back him.

Cheers.  I guess we'll never know re the bit in bold.  Nothing suggests its the case, or that it has or hasn't happened in the past.

of course not. We lost out on Modric, and bought a Liverpool reserve instead who of course might turn out to be the new Rob Lee.

And to date, nobody of any note has came to the club. Nothing has happened to suggest they have any ambition at all, all we have is comments and lack of signings to suggest they don't.

Seriously hoping you don't believe that to be the thought process they've gone through.

have it your way then, he was a regular and important member of the team, which is why they let him go.

I don't think I said that ???

So what is this thought process then that they've gone through, that your ITK knowledge lets you see that others can't ?

The only solid evidence thus far is, we needed a midfielder, we tried to sign Modric and ended up with Guthrie.

I don't think I claimed to know anything more than anyone else, quite the opposite in fact, if you bother to read back over what you've quoted.

NE5's Jedi mind tricks are clearly starting to work with you. ;)

Did you not say "Seriously hoping you don't believe that to be the thought process they've gone through." ?

Did I not ask "So what is this thought process then that they've gone through, that your ITK knowledge lets you see that others can't ?"

If you think NE5's take on the thought process is wrong, then offer up an alternative. I don't know why people feel to dismiss others view but then not have anything in return to dissprove them.

I'll forgo all dignity and nerdly respond "The force is not strong with this one."

If you don't then how can you just simply dismiss what he says ?Even though his was based on solid facts Modric no, Guthrie yes.

Why is he so wrong ?

FFS if you have a go at what someone says, have something to come back at them with otherwise you look as stupid as I do on occassions :p

Watching England groups would also of helped as we played Croatia in November 2007 & he looked good then. Also picking up the odd World Soccer is another great way to broaden your football knowledge. Hope this helps

That would suggest he's a helluva player which many top teams were after. Actually, you were the only one who hadn't heard of him by then tbh.

My mistake, I thought you were suggesting I was claiming to have ITK knowledge.  :dontknow:

All I was getting at was the fact that the "We didn't get Modric, we'll sign Guthrie instead" was somewhat simplistic.

Do you agree?

Yes I agree it probably is too simplistic. But if come Aug 31, no other person is drafted into the position, then NE5 will have been proven correct.

eh ?

What is this 'policy decision' you refer to? Did someone tell you about it? Let me guess, the clueless London journos. You're ridiculous.

Morts quotes, and the transfer action so far, and Keegans quotes, and Allardyce's quotes.

Pretty conclusive so far. There's time for him yet to realise he;s going wrong though.

The transfer policy is the most important in the club Dave.

We changed the manager. FACT.

We have decided not to buy good players. NOT FACT.

Spot the difference.

Did you read that report somewhere about people saying FACT all the time on message boards  ;D

Dave. My point is that the current board have yet to show real genuine ambition to get into the top clubs

You simply can't deny this. Add together the comments made by Mort, Allardyce and Keegan, and the failure to land the manager top 2 targets, and what does it tell you ?

There is still time for Ashley to wise up [excuse the pun], there is always time. But everything that has came out suggests they have adopted a certain transfer policy . The whole operation of the club is geared to how the team performs on the pitch at the current time

Call me cynical, but I saw this club try to buy top players for decades and end up with cheaper replacements. Thats the point about Aimar. My stance won't change until they actually back Keegan to land one or two of his first choice signings and behave like the big club we are.

That is what we should expect of Newcastle. Not every time, especially if clubs like Manure etc are challengers, but sometimes. Minimum requirement.

Everything that has come out? Top two targets? From where are you getting this info?

I'm not really bothered what the cockney press say about us, or our players.

Except when it suits.
