We don't know anything about the club's "performance" with Coloccini and Jonas.

Canny ironic that you cite Jonas as 'dragging on' when the first mention of it was on the website that he'd signed.

howay man surely you can see there's a question to ask here wullie?

how isn't the jonas thing dragging on if his papers aren't sorted after this amount of time?  unless i've misread what everyones saying about his chances of playing in which case i apologise

if i've not misread it what's the crack like?  we play him in pre-season games and appears to be our major ray of hope yet he can't play for us when we actually really need him?

alls well then?

We don't know anything about the circumstances though. If Mallorca are taking the piss, I'm sure the club aren't sitting on their hands not doing anything about it. Again we come back to only thinking something is happening when it's in the paper.

fair point wullie, look at it another way; why announce the signings if they can't play?  stinks of amateurism

you reckon fergie would accept one of the glazers wearing a berbatov top before the deal was done - fair enough ashleys the owner but that makes it worse really, not better

quite correct, but soopa mike can't do anything wrong  mackems.gif

Regardless of injuries to either side, this will be a simple and comprehensive home win.

Yup. In fact although I'm pissed off the Jonas and Coloccini situations look like they'll be unresolved, Owen, Martins and Viduka will be missing and we'll be going into the game with a generally crap side, our season starts against Bolton. We were always going to lose at Old Trafford, so I'm not going to lose too much sleep over it.

dave, genuine question here given our 'stances' during the summer; what do you think of the clubs "performance" with colo & guti?

what i'm getting at is that i can't think of another club, perhaps granted there aren't that many of them as you don't tire of pointing out, who have transfers dragging on like we do

in fact the villa transfer of shorey/young is a right slap in the face for the "transfers don't happen overnight crowd" - so what's going wrong with us then?

I've said before I think the Jonas thing is a bit of a joke and that we should have seen some definitive action taken/answers given by now. However, I'm not going to beat up on the club about it because I just don't know the details. This is even more the case with Coloccini.

There's a bit of a difference between signing players from different countries/leagues too btw.

you just can't do it can you?  take the step to say maybe somethings not perfect in mikes magical wonderland

if neither of those two play sunday there's no other conclusion than they've made a total cunt of both deals

if they do both play then what's with not confirming the deals?

Complete bullshit of NE5 proportions.

End of conversation.

why bring me into it ?

Still continuing your stupid agenda with people that disagree with you ?

Compared to me, you're just a bairn Dave.

oh very good dave...but you can't cede ground - never, once, in any discussion we've had about the club post shepherd have you ever (as i recall) suggested all might not be as it seems without a massive proviso such as we have to wait until sep 1st before we can judge anything

the league is 38 games long mate, we're expected to just give up on man u away for what fucking reason?

he makes the rules as he goes, just so long as you agree with him its OK  mackems.gif

The Guttierez registration farce seems incredibly amateurish. If we dont have his registration now (and the bugger was signed at the very end of June!) when are we going to get it? If Mallorca have refused to release it, why haven't we been badgering UEFA to step in? I cant imagine any other clubs just sitting back with their thumb up their arse waiting for a hacked off Mallorca to play ball.

It's harsh to blame the club for this. I'm sure they've been doing everything they could to get it resolved, it's obviously complicated by him being part owned by that Argentinian club.

Secondly the Colo deal. In some ways the media black out is not a bad thing but its misleading and worrying for the clubs supporters when nothing is mentioned. We've been on the brink of signing this guy for weeks now and still no confirmation, not even an update on if and when he will be joining.

Fuck knows what's happening with this though, I can only imagine they are still in contract negotiations, and as we can see with Owen, the club don't seem to mind letting these things drag on.

yes, and a very amateur way to go about things too ............

I doubt that Keegan is very happy about it.

Thats fair enough, i just wish the club would be more forthcoming with information about such things. Okay, dont speak to the bullshit merchants in the press but its essential for a club/business to keep its fans/ customers informed of matters that concern them. Use the bloody website! A lot of us give a hell of a load of time/money/ effort into supporting the club and I for one, dont like being kept in the dark to the extent we have this summer.

Agree with that. They should have at least said something about Coloccini by now, even if it was just that the fee had been agreed or whatever. They obviously remain confident of sorting the Jonas registration thing but I don't see it happening this late on.

I think the biggest mistake is the Ashley + Coloccini shirt stupidity. Why wear that and then four days later, still not inform the fans about whats going on?

Aye, it's looking more and more ridiculous. There should have been something said after the game.

I still think it might be because we're close to someone else (KK's comments have hinted at this), but after all this time it's just getting daft.

so you admit that we are a joke then

If the Jonas registration is true, then I have to assume they will get that resolved in time for Sunday.  They can't afford not to.  They have had a month and a half to identify this problem and find a solution.  If he can't play, someone wants sacking.  You don't run a club like that.

this

Give me one good reason for NUFC not wanting to tie up this deal and have him available for the game.

your post bears no relevance to the 2 you've quoted

You're criticising the running of the club. I'm saying it isn't totally their fault and they want the deal done asap.

You want people sacked for not getting the deal done ffs.

you said give me a reason for NUFC not wanting the deal concluded, neither of us mentioned desire as a factor

as chicago says the deal was announced weeks ago, if he's not eligible to play sunday someone needs sacking..."want" has nothing to do with it

Even if it's not our fault?  ???

Has it occurred to you that a the time we signed him and announced it, we believed the player's documentation was in transit too? The problems may have happened after we confirmed it. You can't rewind time.

I'm just saying that I think the club is doing everything it can to get the documents and they're as pissed off about it all as you, I and all of us are. If another party, the Spanish FA, is holding the deal up, it's not our fault.

Jesus f***ing wept.

They confirmed it a month and a half ago.  They have had a lot of time to resolve this problem, and they haven't.  Whether they wanted to or tried very hard doesn't matter.  When you make only 2 first team signings, you expect them to play.

So yes, I am criticizing the way the club is being run.  I honestly didn't expect to be looking at the same team on August 16 that lost 0-6 minus Stephen Carr, plus Bolton's Danny Guthrie.

in a nutshell

so despite knowing nothing and admitting the webster ruling is a grey area you're perfectly confident all is well then?  wierd

and as i said earlier if the club knew he couldn't play they should have used pre-season for players they know can, outlandish opinion i know

If he doesn't play then somebody will replace him and it's almost certain that it will be somebody who played last season so will know his team mates.  The player who would benefit more from pre-season was given a few games to work with his team mates, even if it takes a week or two before he gets league games.

You're utterly obsessed with criticising the new board in any way possible, aren't you? I honestly don't think I've ever seen you praise or compliment them.

shame, but I think you [ and Dave and many others] were obsessed with criticising the old board, while we are still waiting for the new board to show us they have any idea whatsoever as to how to compete with the other top clubs like the old board did.

Now, as this disagrees with Dave's opinion, what the odds that I will get a "negative post accusation" directed at me for this true statement.

well, Liam lad, one day you might just hear the pennies dropping ............ but don't let any idiot  tell you that I hope it happens when I have 1334 reasons to show my committment to the club on the back of 40-odd years.........

Like flys around shit.

it was Dave's totally unnecessary reference to me that attracted me mate, but don't let him tell you that he thinks I have an agenda, or post negatively about the club just because I disagree with him, or anything similar.........

anyway, time to gan to bed.

The response is deafening.

Absolutely wrong. I complimented the old board when they deserved it. I criticised them when they deserved criticism. No different with the new board, I'm just holding back on making any conclusive judgments about this window right now as I'd rather wait till it ends to be as far as I can be. I'm happy with some elements of what has gone on this Summer and I'm not so happy about other things, but how much of that is down to the club I don't know.

I have and will praise the new board too, its just that right now they haven't shown much idea that they know how to challenge the other top teams. I'm sorry if you don't like hearing this, but its true. My beef is with the new board, the direction of the club, and as I said, I've got 1334 reasons for hoping they succeed before any childish idiot says differently, as some have in the past.

The post was also directed at Dave, who for the 2nd time this week has made immature jibes at me for no particular reason, then accuses me of making negative posts [because I disagree with him]. How pathetic. Will he delete them all like the last time I wonder ?
