Who Do You Want As Keegan's Replacement?

I don't know anything about Ince's career as a manager, has he had much success at improving clubs and what style of football does his teams play?

Sold Bentley and brought in Paul Robinson and Robbie Fowler.

Top stuff.

Poyet - think he'll be an ok man manager, but since he'd be viewed as an Ashley and Wise crony, appointed because of who he knows not because of what he knows, this will initially undermine his standing with the players which will be difficult to overcome. He is supposed to be well regarded for his coaching and tactial awareness. he'd have no problems with the set-up but huge problems with the fans.

I don't think the players would be the problem if Poyet was appointed.

I'd assume that some of our players are mates with some of Spurs players through international or previous clubs. They would therefore here first hand over whether he is a good coach or simply being appointed through his links to Wise et al

Its probably just a last attempt at clinging onto some hope, but I've good a funny feeling that Ashley is still contemplating trying to reconcile with Keegan - lets not forget it wasn't Ashley who forced him to resign, but Ashley does have the power to attempt a reconciliation and to help manipulate the structure to fit all of the players

No chance. From either side.

Deschamps not approached?

Oh for goodness sake!

Well at least that likely means Oliver's article is a bunch of crap, which is likely a good thing.

I'm not that convinced by Deschamps for some reason. Other than the fact he's French, what makes him the outstanding candidate? Hardly like he's had a long, successful career, he's fairly green just like the other two. How long was his spell in English football?

He has managed two top clubs in Monaco and Juventus tbf.

Champions league final too.

Not a whole lot to go on, but it's still more experience than Poyet and Ince.

There is only one man for the Job, and everybody knows it. Alan Shearer. It will never be "the right time" for him to take the plunge into management, but for us it is exactly the right time. He is the only one who can put some pride back into NUFC, and the club should do everything in their power to get him, including giving him total control of transfers, and we as fans should make as much noise as possible to make it happen.

How fucking great would Shearer and Keane stood toe to toe again on derby day be.......

Why would they stand up to Keegan, forcing him to resign, then merely back down and give the power Keegan wanted to someone else?

Not going to happen.

I have to disagree.  He might be the one person other than Keegan that will be given time by the fans, but his complete lack of experience mean he's the last person we should be gambling on right now IMO.  Possibly the right person, definitely the wrong time.

Embarrassing.

We need to forget about the need for anyone to love the club or be a Geordie legend. We just need an experienced, competant manager that likes attacking football and will fit into the backroom system.

Like Dave says, if they were going to give the manager full control they would have backed down to keep Keegan.

The man hasnt failed anywhere he's been - You dont get to the CL Final with a tiny outfit like Monaco by fluke. Can anyone imagine Poyet or Ince doing the same?

Not really, its a nice (sentimental) thought which won't be happening, hardly embarrassing though.

Alan Oliver says there were 38 serious applicants, narrowed down to 3.

Ince

Poyet

Deschamps

Of those 3, if it's not Deschamps, then I'll have lost faith.

Fair enough.

oh and dover, if you think there's any chance of Shearer coming after the furore which has been stoked up by Fans reps like True Faith, you must be joking. Ashley might have fancied it but since Shearer's comments and the negative reaction to fans favourite KK walking out, he won't touch Shearer with a barge pole.
