Matthew won't tell me when he is next in Newcastle will you Matthew, and tell me to my face what he said about stalking my daughter ?

Give over, both of you should at least stick to verbally having a go at each other and leaving families out of it, it's only a football forum.

Minority shareholder.

End of story.

Baggio must be well pleased that all his dreams have worked out so well for the club.

I can't quite believe that he is too dumb to recognise what is nothing other than normal business procedure and associated comments in this sort of situation.

I'm not going to get into an argument with you Steve as you will only throw your toys out of the pram and send me PM's offering to fight me again. mackems.gif

You do realise how sad you sound offering someone out over the Internet don't you?

As for your daughter, I said how would you like it if someone stalked her on bebo like you do with me on here, perhaps you should look at your own behaviour before bringing it up when you throw your toys out of the pram on here you.

True. But on the other hand, grown adults are embarassing themselves here and it provides comical entertainment.

It's got nothing to do with me and I don't want to know who is a fault but here goes anyway.  You should both take a step backwards on that and leave it alone.  It doesn't matter who is to blame, it's just best left alone as nobody comes out of it looking good.

I don't see the entertainment, not that I mind a good argument, it's the subject.

Grrr!

And yeah, I may have used that "smiley" purely because it reminded me of Dr Robotnik out of "Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine".

Man it's been a long day.

I think we gave up any right to complain about his "I'm a fan" comments the minute the other fans decided to drive him out.

He can't win though really.  If he sells at a low price it's more likely to be someone with little money to spend on players and he'll get flack for that, and if he sells for a high price it's more likely these people will have more money to spend on players but he'll get flack for profiteering.

Pretty much nonesense that like.

Wrong.

Right

No, for some people that's exactly how they'll react.   They already hate him so whatever he does they will put a bad spin on it.  We all do it, it's human nature (see also discussions about Taylor, Milner, Shepherd etc etc).

Maybe a total idiot would react like that, but nobody with the slightest sense of logic would.  If he sold the club cheap people would most likely claim he tried to get more but was forced to settle for less, a negative spin fair enough, I agree on that, just not the example.

So like, 4/5 the population of this board?

More parties interested than expected due to a few late comers who asked for an extension.   :celb: :celb:

No basis for that theory really but just as likely as no one bidding at all.  Might as well be positive.

Going back to Ashley's reported deadline of tomorrow for bids - I realise what he's trying to do (hurry up the prospective bidders), but if the bids don't start rolling in tomorrow, what is he going to do after the deadline has passed?

1) Put item on sale for a brief period at massively inflated price

2) Put up closing down sale everything must go sign

3) Make up fictional potential buyers to hurry the sale along

4) Reduce original price and slap a 1/3 off RRP sticker on it

5) Profit

Mikey sticking to what he knows.

I'm half expecting to see 4.5) This offer is for a limited time only, don't miss out, hurry on on down to SJP NOW!!!

soon

If he sticks to form it will be a rolling "must end soon" date (sale extended due to unprecedented demand).

He tried to run the club like his other acquired companies - passing off inferior goods under a quality brand name, now he's trying to sell the club off like he sells off old England strips.

THE future ownership of Newcastle United remains in doubt despite reports of a bidding deadline today.

A takeover by a South African consortium has been hit by key investors pulling out.

But Newcastle’s interim manager Joe Kinnear told the Chronicle that today’s deadline never existed and half a dozen firm offers are being looked at.

“Mike Ashley has told me that all bids have to be in by October 17,” Kinnear said.

“He said six consortiums have been in touch and are interested.”

Jonathan Cleland, of the South African consortium, is confident new money men can be found and has jetted out to South Africa to find fresh support.

The 46-year-old said: “The vision, the plan and the strategy for the club all remain unchanged. The challenge now is coming up with the money after some of our preferred backers indicated they were no longer interested.

“But I think finding the money is the easiest part and I’m still confident we’ll be able to get some great people on board and make the deal happen.

“Nobody has told me about any deadline. What I understand is that Mike Ashley is a serious player and will listen to all approaches whenever they come in, provided the club hasn’t already been sold of course.

“I am not an athlete running towards the finishing tape, we have a serious plan and vision and three of the core individuals still remain in the consortium.”

However, former Toon boss Freddie Shepherd believes half the battle could be sifting through the bids for genuine offers.

The man who took over from Sir John Hall as chairman, in 1997, added that he fears the global credit crunch could affect potential buyers.

Shepherd said: “The last I heard from someone in the city, the club has had 100 applications, but 99 of them have been barking mad.

“Getting the right person in at the moment is going to be difficult. There’s a credit crunch which will be impacting on potential buyers as much as anyone. It doesn’t matter who they are. The global markets are in turmoil.

“No-one’s going to give Mike Ashley a huge profit for the club now, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work that one out. Whoever’s going to buy it will know they are going to have to buy players in January.

“If Ashley doesn’t sell the club by January he’s going to have to strengthen the team. That’s why he will be aiming to sell the club before the transfer window opens.”

Mr Cleland, who made his name transforming brands like Coca Cola, Cadbury Schweppes and Whyte and Mackay, last week told the Chronicle he had met with Kevin Keegan with a view to bringing him back as manager if his bid was successful.

He also said he had lodged an offer with Seymour Pierce, the company handling the sale.

Neither Mr Cleland nor Seymour Pierce were able to confirm the value of the reported bid, but it was understood to be structured with a £150m up front and the remainder paid over the course of the year, possibly dependant on the club staying in the Premiership.

Mystery surrounded who the members of the five strong consortium were, with Mr Cleland keeping their names and wealth secret in a bid to avoid being sucked into a price war.

Now, after two of the key investors pulled out, he flew out to Johannesburg last night to hold crunch meetings with other potential investors.

And he also hoped to secure support closer to home. He said: “I would love to generate some support from the UK and better still from Newcastle and I would urge anyone who is interested to get in touch.”

Simon Clifford was being lined up to become the club’s technical director.

Clifford brought Brazilian coaching methods to the UK and his soccer schools see youngsters handling footballs as young as six months old.

He has worked with stars including Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Micah Richards and Theo Walcott.
