Imagine, if barton had dived like that, would be outrage.

Some people would have you believe Barton represents everything that's wrong with the modern game.  No, it's the continual reward for serial cheats like Gerrard that gives the game a bad name and makes it almost pointless to watch at times.

"No more than they deserved"?  Well why don't we just scrap goals and put it to an X-Factor style vote then?  It would have more credibility.

Now they're all trying to justify it by saying that if that happened outside of the area it would be a free kick so "I suppose it must be a penalty then".  Not one of them has the decency to just admit that it was a poor decision that went their way, too far up there own arses.

Filthy club. Gerrard's a cracking players but he's also a f***ing cheat. No other word is suitable. He cheats. The only thing worse than his cheating is the fact no-one in the media, the FA or UEFA challenge it.

Commentators said 'he made the most of it' and that Gerrard 'jumped into him more than anything'

How is it that no-one in the media mentions it?  When you JUST heard them!

On the fence comments like "He made the most of it" are hardly the same as actually calling it like it is and saying he dived is it?

Exactly.

When have you ever heard any paper or tv pundit call Gerrard a cheat? Other players, usually foreign, get called 'divers' and are accused of bringing that aspect of the game to the Premiership but totally ignore the worst offender in the League - Gerrard.

It would be nice to see one pundit be honest and say "You know what he dived." If Aguero had done it at the other end, they'd be lambasting "Foreigners".

More chance of The Gimp's arse not being like a Japanese flag.

The BBC match report doesn't even go so far as to say it was "controversial", just that Gerrard was fouled and that was that.

That's why I like F365 when I remember to read it: Gerrard Cons A Draw For Pool As Chelsea Are Humiliated - A shameful piece of gamesmanship by con-artist Steven Gerrard in front of the Kop earned Liverpool a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid with the Pool captain winning and converting a 95th penalty.

They'll never say that.

Debatable Craig Burley seems fair.

Even though we all know that Free Kicks are much more likely to be awarded outside of the Penalty area that inside, because referees don't want turn games unnecessarily.

One of the worst decisions I've ever seen, what a pathetic incident. Good swan dive from Gerrard though.

Liverpool fan's (national media) reaction? "Oh, should have had one earlier".

Conveniently forgetting the 2 Atletico should have had.

It's getting beyond a joke now, what a farce.
