Kinnear all but withdraws his interest in Stephen Carr

Recommended Posts

tbh  I thought it was going to be Terry Mac returning when I saw the title

But Carr? Well he didn`t look too bad  towards the end of last season tbf......might take him on a short term deal under the (dire) circumstances

He'd break down after 2 games. Put a kid in there.

Didn't we try that? David Edgar?

So you're advocating bringing in someone younger, less developed and with less first-team experience than Edgar? And, considering Edgar was played ahead of said kid, most likely less talented... At this point in time?

Re-signing Carr would almost certainly enhance our playing squad. Yes, it signifies exactly where we are as a club - it's appalling, diabolical, an indictment on every person who has had any authority since... Carr left. But, yes, signing an international right back on a free transfer on "most likely" smallish wages - if his name wasn't Carr, if he was an (largely) unknown Asian or African player never seen before we'd be stoked to sign him.

After all, I'm sure that, crap as he is, someone could make a ripping YouTube vid of Carr

What are Ian Harte and Thomas Brolin up to these days?

Harte plays for Sheff Utd reserves and Broling has a restaurang in Sweden ;)

The point is to have cover for Beye right? I saw enough of Carr's injury blighted career here to know you couldn't rely on him to be fit in any case. I'd rather see Taylor there. As an aside, I find it disgraceful that we don't have any young lads in the reserves who play specialist right back or in Butt's midfield role.

The way Taylor is playing these days... Look, it's a rare day that we don't have anyone that can play at right back (didn't Geremi fill in there once or twice at Chelsea?) but that's where we are. Sign him for the term of Kinnear's contract

And yes, the depth of the squad is poor - but the Wise/Vetere team did fill in several key positions when you add up the likes of Tozer, Kadar, Soderbergh, Zamblera, Ranger et al - you could say the only positions they haven't addressed yet are the ones we need right now. (But that's me being facetious - please don't be wound up by this)

To be fair to Wise & co, the problem stems from before they arrived.

Isn't Pistone at Mons? In Belgium, bout one letter off what he used to be considered by some. Glass, is still in Scotland if memory serves.

Darren Lough is academy Right back but nowhere near ready and you would be putting Tozer on his weaker side.

Darren Lough is a left back.

Conor Newton played right back vs Blackburn.

Well that just shows how we have improved having to go begging to bring back a player we just released.  mackems.gif

Release a right back who played 12 games - don't buy a right back - find yourself in trouble, who'd have thought? Geniuses at work.
