Guest
I'm sure I saw something this week about George McCartney encouraging Scousers to boycott McDonald's because one of them in Liverpool has photos of The Beatles inside, and he's not happy because he's a vegetarian. TRon
Sorry you guys, I need a more in depth analysis from the heart of the supporters since 1991. I have a hunch UV and NE5 will provide better replies and context considering the well recognised similarities between both sets of fans we so often hear about. Cronky
I think that there are supporters of other clubs looking at us and asking, why are they so angry at Mike Ashley? For Liverpool, it's all about expectations based on past achievements. Not winning the Premiership is failure for them. It's all quite strange. There were quite a few Arsenal supporters a few weeks ago, moaning at Arsene Wenger and demanding that the club spend more money.
jack j
The way they went behind there managers back to get Klinnsmann the way they air the dirty linen in public. Unlike us Liverpool have morals and they stand by them, we could learn alot from them

Its only the name ie Ashley you have wrong. Do you honestly think that people are wondering why we are pissed off with Ashley. Take my word for it, most people realise why we are angry with Ashley and agree, but they didn't understand why there was anger directed at the old board. Other than mongs on phone ins and southern journos, but they will always find something, just like Louise Taylor. Its astonishing that people don't realise this and took it all so much to heart. Except for the bit about being in the Champions League every year. And the bit about winning cups. In my experience, the vast majority of other fans would come out with some line like "Ha, ha, ha! How much have you spent and you still haven't won anything!"
Guest king harry
They payed no money for the club, they took out loans which they put on the club They intended to sack the manager, and replace him, and had talks with klinsman, a story they broke to the press A proportion of the money they borrowed, was meant to go towards the new ground, it has been cancelled The supporters group that we set up, only months ago, are more than getting the americans out, it is about fighting for fans rights, we have already set up transport to all away matches, including europe, for a cheaper price than anyone. we will hold WHOEVER owns the club to account, and make sure the club is run correct. Considering it started off with 200 lads meeting in a pub, we have already had meetings with the manager, the owners, and have managed to give our concerns, we are concerned about ticket prices, and the lack of tickets for dads and lads, and under 16s We are a quite new organisation, but are making good progress. We have organised protests which have attracted publicity, but its hard to do things like boycotting and picketing club shops, and as people have suggested, having a mass walk out with 20 minutes to go, to these things, you need about 25 thousand match going reds in the union, so far we are quire short of that number, but well into the thousands. So you are peeved that they put the club into debt by taking out loans rather than using their own money, is that correct? Quite interesting seeing as we have supporters here furious that Ashley has not "shown ambition" by taking out loans and spending more on the squad - something your American owners seem to have done, at least looking from the outside. Guest Howaythetoon
They were lied to. They also saw their beloved manager being undermined. Ticket fiascoes, lack of communication, debt etc. etc. Sound familiar? I was in Liverpool last week and one Red was telling me that our successful (his word) protests give him hope that the Americans can be driven out of Anfield. Indeed the general opinion wherever I go regarding fans protesting is "good on you for standing up for what you believe in" I used to look at them and wonder what they are protesting for, CL footy, trophies, record transfer deals being spent etc. but they genuinly believe their club's long-term stability and future is under serious threat by the Americans and they are acting and I say good luck to them and any other fan who stands up and fights for what they believe in. They are highly organised, media savvy and have went about things in a very civilised and professional mannner. We could learn a thing or two from them, as could others. Forgetting the rivalry and piss take Liverpool are a great club with top fans, very much like ourselves. It isn't good for English football all these takeovers and uncertainty. You haven't read views expressed that the quality of players coming in has not been good enough to compete with the top clubs like we did under the previous board? That Newcastle are one of the biggest clubs in the country and need to show ambition by signing players which reflect that?

They're pissed off because the owners have saddled the club with debt to buy the CLUB, which the fans are paying off. Like us they've spent no more on players under the new owners than they did under the previous regime.

It would be intresting to see how much we still owe for players we have bought. But the bigger picture is that football supporters are being treated like dirt, everywhere. Take Manchester united, they have to go into there auto cup scheme, at the moment we are still getting a choice. Over 20 thousand of there season ticket holders, didnt renew last season. The club arnt bothered cos other people are willing to take there place. At the moment, we can only concentrate on our own club, maybe in the future, well supported and organised fans from diffrent clubs, can organise protests on the same day. Im all for one end of a ground walking out with 15 minutes to go, can you imagine the publicity if us, yourselves, the mancs and west ham managed to pull that of on the same day. But first we need more popular support, theres still loads of Liverpool fans that havent got a clue

To quote someone on this forum, if things are so bad, why hasn't Benitez came out and exposed the owners for who they really are, and walked out? Or do you think maybe, just maybe, that a manager can still get on with his job of managing and coaching a squad of players?
