mrmojorisin75
erm i can't see anywhere else this being posted: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_4738893,00.html Newcastle are trying to sign Rangers duo Barry Ferguson and Madjid Bougherra in a double deal, skysports.com understands. Magpies chief Joe Kinnear is looking to bring a number of new faces into the club during the winter transfer window. The Rangers duo are very high on Kinnear's wanted list and talks began earlier this week. Both midfielder Ferguson and defender Bougherra have Premier League experience with Blackburn and Charlton, respectively, and Kinnear sees the duo as ideal signings. Newcastle are looking to take advantage of Rangers' current financial situation and swoop for the duo. "I have enquired about Ferguson, but we will wait and see what the outcome of that is," said Kinnear. "We are finding it difficult to bring certain players from clubs. Our bids haven't been accepted so far. "The problem is two or three clubs are in for the same players. At the moment, there could be teams bidding more than us. "It would help if I could move some of the players here and get the finances in that way. But we have had no bids for them." be afraid boys and girls, be very very afraid EDIT: bollox, there's a thread about it

Wallace
Alan Oliver is back!!! http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_headline=pompey-in-for-joey%26method=full%26objectid=21015026%26siteid=93463-name_page.html 4 January 2009 POMPEY IN FOR JOEY EXCLUSIVE Adams desperate to end Barton's Toon hell By Alan Oliver Tony Adams wants to rescue Joey Barton from his nightmare at Newcastle United. Portsmouth boss Adams sees the midfield bad-boy as the ideal replacement to fill the gap left by the £20million sale of Lassana Diarra to Real Madrid. People Sport understands that Adams has spoken to Barton's representative and the player is aware of the interest. Barton last year spent a spell in rehab at the Sporting Chance clinic, which was co-founded by Adams after his own successful fight against alcoholism. Adams has taken an interest in helping him overcome his problems ever since. Barton, 26, is currently recovering from a knee ligament injury, which he suffered only weeks after coming back from an FA suspension for a trainingground attack on former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo. He had previously been handed a six-month jail sentence for assault and affray following a vicious street attack in Merseyside in 2007. Boss Joe Kinnear said he is already lining up Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson as a potential replacement.

How is Barton having a 'nightmare' at Newcastle, all his many misdemeaners happened while he was at City (I think!!) 2. JFK may talk a load of crap but pretty sure he's only said we've enquired about Ferguson, not said he was to be Bartons replacement.

Did any NUFC fans complain about 'ruining football' when we signed Shearer for a WR fee ? Please tell me you're not equating the signing of a left back who's been playing in the Chelsea reserves for 3 years with someone who, at the time of signing, was already widely regarded as one of the best strikers around. People, NUFC fans and not, are "complaining" because it's seen as a disproportionate amount to be paying for a player of that caliber at that position. World class strikers command huge fees. Seeing reserve left backs pull that wage and that fee only fucks up the pricing for everything else. I know I didn't because he could(and should) have been the final piece in our jig-saw for success... When you're losing 0 - 3 to the likes of Nottingham Forest, Left Back is probably one of the last pieces you need to find.
